What a bizarre ending…in what was a miserable 10-7 game for three and a half, in the last 3 minutes of game time:

- Wake Forest’s RB scores a 42-yard TD run to make it 14-10

- Pitt capped off a 7 play, 75 yard drive with a 22-yard TD pass with 1:30 left to make it Pitt 17-14.

- Wake Forest’s 3rd string QB completes 2 passes to move the team to the Pitt 37 before throwing a pick at the Pitt 28 (after a Pitt timeout) with 1:03 left in the game.

- Pitt commits 2 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties after the play, pushing them back to their own 7.

- Pitt runs for no gain. Wake Forest calls a timeout.

- Pitt commits an offensive hold on a 2 yard gain on second down, which while declined keeps the clock stopped.

- On 3rd and 8 at the Pitt 9, Pitt’s QB gets wide open, scrambles, and slides short with no one around him at the Pitt 16, meaning it’s now 4th down and 1 with 40 seconds left in the game. Wake Forest calls a time out.

- A 32 yard punt to the Pitt 48, a scramble out of bounds, and incompletion later, on 3rd and 11 at the Pitt 49 Wake Forest completes a pass to the Pitt 39. Wake Forest uses its last timeout with 20 seconds left.

- On 4th and 1, Wake Forest completes a 24-yard pass to the Pitt 15 with 13 seconds left, followed by an incomplete pass.

- On 2nd and 10, down 17-14 with 7 seconds left, Wake Forest’s 3rd string QB completes a 15 yard pass that the receiver just reaches the ball over the goal line for a TD

-21-17 Wake Forest final.

I love the “slides 1 yard short with no tacklers around”. That is crazy stuff.

Final score in your post must be wrong.

Odd. I could have sworn I fixed it yesterday and saved the edit. It should read 21-17. Thanks, I’ll correct that.
