This is a question to all of the Volnation recruiting gurus: Who is in the next wave of verbal commitments for us?

Lets be try to be realistic and not overly hopeful. :good!:

I thought that guy had a 'source' saying Bonds would commit soon, too.
It'd be great to get Rogers and Foster, but we really need Defensive commits

Hicks seems like he's between us and Oregon.. and he's a beast DT.. he'll prolly be a four star when the JUCO rankings come out.. Prolly a high four star from what I've heard..
and it looks like we might be the leader

I'm not 100% sold on Rogers just yet but Foster is a lock. I also think we'll get Hicks but who knows when he'll committ.

Hicks wants to see the schools before he commits. Swearinger could be a possibility as well.

Rogers will probably play defense too. He would make a damn good Strong Safety.

Brandon McGee is commiting somewhere soon. There is an article so a set date he is announcing his commitment. Anyone know when that date is?

Wow, no one saw Hunter's commitment coming. But pretty much everybody knew about Foster. Glad to have them both.
White would be huge for our OL

As has been previously stated quite often, TN has 16 "commitments" for the class of 2009 (including our 3 JUCO's). Assuming we take 25, I would like to see us pick up these 9 following:

Marlon Brown - WR

Morgan Moses, Peter White - OL

Akiem Hicks, Chris Davenport, Chris Bonds - DT

Jerod Askew - LB

Darren Myles - DB (not a position of need, but great player)

Logan Thomas - ATH

Other potentials:

Thad McHaney - TE/DE

Craig Drummond, Jamil Merrell - DE

Corey Gaines - DT

Jamal Merrell, Greg King - LB (don't know much about him, but he's a high ranked in-state kid)

Darius Winston, Eric Gordon, Branden Smith - DB

Zach Rogers, Marsalis Teague - ATH

I see it like this.....i think we take 30
minus the 16..leaves 14 to give with a couple being sign and place or prep bound

We are holding schollys for a couple of guys...Brown, Moses, etc.... If they go elsewhere we could use those at other positions of course

2 WR - rodney smith, brown, rogers
2 OL - white and moses...only get one i think....
3 DT - davenport, bonds, hicks would be great..dabney?
2 DE - We have shown interest in a bunch
1 DB - Gordon, Myles would be huge.....doubt we get him
2 LB - Askew and another guy..need 2 quality guys here
2 ATH - teague, thomas, bunch of interest shown

hvwarrior, How are they going to fit them all? They lose about 20 Srs after this season if I'm not mistaken... that doesn't leave room for 27 much less 30.

I think the same way but somehow every time things just seem to work out... Players leave..get kickoff.....incoming recruits don't make the grades......injuries end careers..scholarships from previous years unused....etc

This class reminds me of 2007 in terms of numbers...before we signed the 32 we were rumored to take between 22-27

Most of the commits at this point are offense. I sure hope we can get a few more on the defensive side.
