I find your exercise one of futility, Eric. There are too many unknowns to say what our needs will be in 2012. "This is a depth building year" Yeah? No kidding? Every year is a depth-building year on the defensive line. You still take the stars when you can get them.

your numbers are way low on the defensive side and too high on the offensive side imo. we need TEs and OL on offense, but need everything on defense.

on defense in '11, I think we go:

DEs- 3
DTs- 4
LBs- 4
Ss- 2
CBs- 2

They have been telling Jackson he is an LB, but who knows. That would give us 3, with the possibility of Loften or Sapp possibly growing into a LB.

I still think we need to take 4 LBs in this class though for a couple of reasons.

- imo we will be slowly moving to a full 3-4 over the next couple of years thus needing more LBs.

- I am not confident in Probst, Jackson, Sapp, Mitchell-Thornton, or Nelson ever panning out. I do, however, think the light bulb is starting to turn on for Askew and that Crump is going to be a good one to go along with Lathers and King.

We've got bodies, but we need quality depth.

but looks at the grades those guys are in. 2 freshmen RBs and 1 sophmore. 2 freshmen QBs. 1 freshman FB. 9 of our 12 scholly OL are freshmen or sophmores (7 of them are freshmen). 4 freshmen WRs and 2 sophmores.

we have depth in the underclassmen.
