The people who I think might get their number retired in the future are:

Allan Houston
Admiral Schofield
Tony White
Grant Williams

Who does the board think should be on this list?

Chris Lofton deserves it. He was the glue of some pretty good teams (and probably wouldn't have even been recruited by Pearl). He is simply a Basketball Vol icon.

He just hit 3's with people in his face and everyone knew he was gonna shoot it. I was amazed at some of the shots he made. The one vs Barnes Texas team with 6 ft 9 inch Kevin Durant on him, he dribbles backward while facing KD quick release lets it fly from 30 foot Vols win 88 to 87.closing seconds

I'm with @Thunder Good-Oil. Unless the player was an all-time great, led the team to a national title/final 4, or some other extreme extenuating circumstance, then I'd vote no to jersey retirement.

I think Lofton deserves it even though we didn’t win a Championship. That tournament is a crapshoot and everyone knows it. I put more stock into what someone does in the regular season in college basketball. NBA is different because their playoff format is more fair.

He was a 2x Consensus AA, SEC POY, 3x All-SEC, and owns the career SEC 3 point record. The next closest guy on the list is 50 makes behind him. In today’s world of 3 point shooting that is amazing in itself. That record is still standing after 12 years. I figured someone would’ve broken it by now but that just goes to show how great of a shooter he was. His career slash line was 45/42/84 and he was a 4 year starter. That’s as efficient as it gets for a guard in basketball. He was incredible and deserves it.

I personally don't like ANY jersey retirements in football or basketball. I think it hurts the legacy of the number, and hinders recruiting, to some degree on All American legend-type players like Reggie White or Peyton. I WOULD be in favor of a "ring of honor", where we put their names and numbers on display, or statues, or whatever. But, think about it this way. Trevor Lawrence grew up a Vol fan, and wears 16 because of Peyton. If we didn't have a knucklehead of a coach... think about Pruitt/Chaney recruiting Trevor, and letting him wear 16...he'd be in the bank. Just my opinion. Additionally, look at Bama. I think #12 for Bama is one of the most revered numbers in college football, yet it's not retired.

Alabama Crimson Tide
Retired:
None
Revered:
12- Joe Namath, Ken Stabler
22- Mark Ingram
37- Shaun Alexander
55- Derrick Thomas

I don't agree with retiring numbers. Put their name on a board, recognize them for their great service to our university and move on. Let the next person have the opportunity to wear that number.

Not a fan of college jersey retiring. Make a large banner with the players name and # on it sorta like a Ring of Honor but don't retire the jersey number. There are only so many #'s and the debate of who deserves their # retired or not can be all over the place.

The other day I watched that shot on youtube and it still gave me chills.

The requirements that UT has for retiring jerseys are so stringent, we will have truly legendary players that will never get theirs retired.

I agree with not retiring jerseys (minus the 4 killed in WWII) and having a ring of honor in every sport that has the players number, years played, pic, etc

Lofton and Williams get my vote.
I love me some Admiral and he will go down as one of the most beloved VFL’s of all time but you’ve gotta draw the line somewhere.
GBO!!
