First off, this is not about TENN, at least this year or probably next few years. I was watching the Clemson vs aTm game last night and started thinking about a possible look into the future of top recruiting teams. Both Ala and Clemson have recruited at a very high level for the past few years. GA now doing the same. With these great recruiting classes they are loading up on young talent that can start at other schools. This is not a problem for a lot of positions, but normally a team basically plays one QB while the game is in doubt. Both Ala and Clemson have recruited multiple high level QBs. Both teams on Sat played 2 QBs while the game was still on the line, and both HCs say they play to continue that. Do you think this could be more of a norm in the future, or just a coincidence this year. I think teams that can load up QB talent are becoming afraid of one of them transffering, then getting an injury, and being at a disadvantage. I think top teams will begin to play 2 QBs more in the future to pacify multiple high recruits. Share your thoughts.

i doubt its a real trend. and really only Bama and Clemson can sell it. Maybe OSU. They are the only ones who can actually promise playoff runs, and keep players happy.

Jimbo is going to have A&M in the playoff within a couple of years, IMO. He already appears to have vastly improved their offense, QB play in particular, and their defense will probably get much better with time and recruiting. Their defense is still as soft as Charmin, the performance Saturday night notwithstanding.

I think that'll be a game Alabama has to circle on their calendar every year, even more frequently than the games against LSU and Auburn (I don't mean A&M will be a bigger rival to them than either of those schools, just that the A&M game will be a game they have a chance of losing more frequently).

A&M didn’t play badly statistically against Clemson. They shut them down in the second half. Mike Elko made adjustments. They are doing this with a crappy secondary. Take away one play where the db fell down, and we held them to 350 yards. I’ll take that all day against Clemson. Once Jimbo gets recruits in and we have equal talent, the sky is the limit.

It’s been around, and no, it won’t catch on. The team always concludes It’s not as good as playing one guy.

What they’ll do to keep a good backup, I don’t know.

Imagine being an opposing DC and having just a week to prep for two different QBs. Especially, if those two QBs are of different styles.

Would be one hell of a feat to be able to run two different style QBs with consistency throughout a season.

its the same issue for the offense. you have to game plan your two guys against what the D does.

Those schools can essentially guarantee recruits playoff runs...for now. Alabama and Clemson won't be in the playoff every year on an indefinite basis.
