With the schedule changing into a round robin format, will South Carolina game even mean anything to us? We don't play them in 2024. I don't think they will be able to sustain the momentum they created last year. Patience will probably dwindle by the end of this season as they struggle to make a bowl game and by next season, their fans could really get antsy.

Like us, they've had the luxury of playing in the East the last decade while its been down. The difference is, is that they don't have the resources to compete with the top dawgs NIL wise.

I expect USCjr to get exposed when they have to start playing teams from SEC West more often, along with Texas and Oklahoma. They will probably linger in the bottom half of the league like they do in basketball.

Either way, its nice to get a victory today as we would have to listen to arrogant Cock fans for at least another two years before getting a chance to beat them. So cheers to that!

Not having to go to Columbia is something I'm totally in favor of. And I say that as someone who lives in Charlotte and Columbia was easily the closest place to go to a UT game.

Good riddance to the stadium in the industrial park and the rest of that city

I legitimately do not care. They mean nothing to me at all. They want us to be rivals for some reason, but I will never think more of them than just another team on the schedule.

I’m with ya. It’s an all risk/no reward game. We are expected to beat them every year and occasionally they will beat us and act like they’re the 07 Patriots.

It sucks playing at any opponents' house, except Vandy.

If we don't see them every year, they become less important.
I suspect the new format is going to tough on their recruiting and W-L record.
They don't play the NIL game very well.
MSSt, Vandy, Mizzou, and USCjr will have a tougher time winning consistently.
I expect the SEC and B1G become more like the NFL.
Champions will only have a 1-2 losses. Teams can make the playoffs with 3 losses.

*thinking* Does the South Carolina game really mean anything to anyone?
Right. I’ve never cared much about this game. It meant something this year due to the revenge factor and we needed a get well game, but that’s it.

I won't miss em. We have lost a key starter to injuries in the last 2 games against them, and their fan base is very obnoxious. Columbia not a tourist attraction either.

I give Gamecock fans credit. They are exceptional given the program has been average historically. That stadium however is a dump, a cement dump. Have been 2x. Fans do get loud though.

Only 5-5, but SC was a guaranteed win prior to him.
For the first 17 years SCAR was in the SEC, every UT loss was immediately followed by the firing of a head coach or coordinator.

Majors was fired immediately after the 1992 loss.

Randy Sanders was fired (several years too late) immediately after the 2005 loss.

And finally Fulmer was let go immediately after the 2008 loss.

What does that say about the SCAR football program prior to Spurrier that they got 3 UT coaches fired?

They are pretty obnoxious fans. I've been to a few home games against them. Never really understood why that are so cocky

SC has 11 wins over UT. Pretty sure Spurrier has most of those.
Nobody really thinks about it, but it’s been one of the most oddly competitive games the past 15-20 years regardless of how good either team has been.

The game was a complete mismatch from 92-04. But it’s 10-9 against them since 2005.
