FYI Cam Sutton

We have some serious talent at freshman. Also, Sutton was a 3* if I'm not mistaken. Just a friendly reminder that Butch knows what he is looking for and is a good evaluator of players. We have 2 3* freshman corners that are making plays at a big time level!

Woop woop.. star police is on the way. 3* can't possibly be good.

Actually, Sutton and Coleman both make me think that Azzani's perception of his WR's ability is likely somewhat skewed because they can make a really good WR look average to bad.

I've been waiting on this team to really start leveraging the size of the WR corps we have....only in brief spots thus far. With North and Croom, there could be a LOT more of those clutch High Point catches. Can't make em if we don't try. And something tells me we are going to have to try next week.

We aren't going to make a living running the football against Bama. The only edge we have on their defense is the size mismatch at WR. North, Croom and (yes get him involved) Harris. Try and hurt them deep a few times, early, by going exploiting the size mismatch...and if it works, keep doing it until they prove they can stop it.

You have been saying this! And I've been liking each of those posts I see. I agree with the need to use the tall wr to our advantage. Finally it pays off in a big way!

Wearing down secondaries with the high shots to tall WRs isn't going to happen much until the QB play improves. Worley did a good job taking care of the ball yesterday, but I was at the game yesterday and there were several WTF moments when watching him throw it.

Couldnt agree with you more. Worley didnt turn the ball over but he is nowhere near the caliber qb to lead us anywhere. He cant throw a deep ball to save his life. That pass to Blanc that was ruled incomplete would have been a td by any other qb. He was wide open and Worley couldnt get him the ball. He had to sit there and wait on it. No excuse for not making that throw. Was a walk in td if he had any arm strength. He has underthrown his receivers all year with passes over 30 yds or so. North has been good enough to make some circus catches to bail him out. His balls are usually horribly thrown.

No doubt. Worley is still a project. Has Cromptonitis one play, then throws like Brady the next. Still only his 6th SEC start iirc, so he's got plenty of upside.

But, i'll say the word "Noooooo" was coming out of my mouth as soon as I saw him planting to throw to the south end zone yesterday ... luckily it nailed one of the 3 defenders in the back. LOL!

The Joe Montana impression to North at the end was on 3rd & 10 ... following the first two ugly throws. Ultimately he took care of the ball tho.

Glad we have him.

Eh....some of that was on Blanc. Could as easily say if it was to a different WR it's a TD.

Azzanni is basing his evaulation of his WRs on how well they run their routes (if it's 10 strides and cut then don't make it 11, or 9, and cut), and how well they block, not based on whether the UT secondary has been able to cover them. And he has stated the last couple of weeks that the youngsters are getting better at both.

Ya cuz thrs nothing more to being a good receiver thn route running and blocking??? speed size i dont kno maybe hands ??? Ability to go up and get balls ?? Ability to run after catch ??? U can run piss poor routes and still be a damn good college receiver IE; CP

Overall I agree that he has good instincts and cover skills but his tackling was pretty rough Saturday. That's were the work needs to be done.

Watch the replays. Worley's pass was affected by the pass rush. It often is. Blanc should have made that catch easily. Maybe not get in the end zone, but it was a definite ball that should've been caught.

But Worley's passing is only affected by the rush because he takes so long to get rid of the ball. Admittedly, this isn't all on him; our young WR group has some more work to do on their routes, but Worley still bears at least a portion of it. Our O-line is at their best in pass protection, but he's still hanging onto the rock for way too long.

I thought so too, but as I was sitting in YY (north end zone) watching the plays unfold, I noticed Worley rarely misses the open receiver, but all things considered, the plays just take forever to develop and for someone to get open. Worley has some glaring issues being able to throw strikes consistently, but the blame goes all the way around. Route running and dropped balls haven't been this bad since Casey's last two seasons IMO.

Handed Connor Shaw his first interception of the season today.

I can't even imagine what he is going to be like in 2 years.

A bit early to project as a first-rounder but he is playing beyond what we would have expected a 3-start to be as a freshman. I would like to think he will continue to get better and be that lock-down corner we need. He certainly is giving us a good starting point for the next few years with the talent coming in.
