“It’s, like, every night, every other night we talk,” said Starks, who’s ranked the No. 26 overall prospect and No. 4 athlete in the 2022 class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

“I talk to Coach Pruitt a good bit, and Coach Ansley. I have a real good relationship with all those guys up there, and they’re really cool.”

Tennessee “is one of” the schools currently recruiting Starks hardest, he said, along with Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Clemson, among others.

“I would say Clemson,” Starks said. “Clemson’s up there, (and) Auburn, LSU. There’s a couple.”

But Tennessee is one of the schools on his radar, and while he hasn’t visited the Vols to this point, he said he “would love to get up there” in the not-too-distant future.

Niedermeyer, Pruitt and Ansley have made it clear that Starks is a priority for the Vols.

“The thing they’ve pitched to me the most is they want me,” Starks said. “They want me because I can be a huge asset to their team. Every time I’m on the phone, they say I could be a program-changer, a game-changer for them.”
