Another offensive lineman who was in this weekend was Gabe Smith. TN offered in September and this was his second visit the last month. He is talking to the staff consistently. His stock is on the rise right now.

Smith first visited Tennessee for the Texas A&M game, and the Vols are standing out to him early, which made him want to return to Rocky Top on Saturday. “Definitely the fans for one,” Smith said of what he has enjoyed about his time at Tennessee. “The people and the coaches here, I really love that. Coach KP and Coach Micah, are both great guys. I just love it here on Rocky Top, man.”

Tennessee offered Smith in September, and he has been in frequent communication with Glen Elarbee and the OL staff since. “I talk to them a few times a week,” he said. ” I like their personalities and how much they care about me. I like the way they recruit me and tell me about what they like about me.” “They tell me like my hands and my feet,” Smith said of the message from the staff. ‘”They want me to get better with driving my feet, but I think they like my technique and things I can improve on.”

Saturday was Smith’s first opportunity to chat with Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel in-person as well. “I got to meet him today and had the chance to talk to him,” Smith said. “He is a cool guy. He told me he really likes what I am doing and to keep it up. That was really what it was all about.” “I am really loving it,” Smith said of this. “They are definitely one of the tops on my list right now. Miami and Virginia Tech (are the others standing out).”
