'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

In VQ video JJ said he measured in at 6’2.5” 231lbs. Damn he and Quay are going to be quite the freshman tandem next fall in Knoxville. He really enjoyed his visit this weekend, loves our staff, facilities and people. Said they told him he will play ILB and all over. He said he doesn’t care where he plays, he’s just ready to work.

Why not this fall? Have you already red shirted them?😁

Kirkland is fast but have you seen him try to take on blocks? Also this won’t be a traditional 3-4. And I don’t think we’ll be in it a lot first year. We will run more 4 man front than 3-4. We don’t have the D-Linemen for it.

We don’t have the linemen for a three...but do for a four?

Let’s not forget about bituli, I think he will do really well as an ILB in Pruitt’s defense

I think Bituli will be on the field at all times. He and Ignont look like the best fits on campus already. Kirkland has to get more physical. This kid here will start early. He’s impressive and ready to help right now.

Yes, lighter guys. Three man front for six gaps as opposed to four man front for six gaps. In the 3 you have different techniques and skills sets as opposed to 4.

We have had a crappy front four for the last two seasons. I don’t see the benefits of teaching our incoming recruits that crap and then after a year or two start teaching the 3-4. Same with linebackers. And are we going to run Pruitt’s preference for defensive backs or teach them something else first? Point is we’ve sucked the last two years. What’s the risk in moving forward?

We suck again.

Good point

Why do people think we won’t be running a lot of 4 man fronts? Go back and watch Bama versus Clemson. They were in 4 man fronts most of the game. On passing downs and against the spread they are usually in 4 man fronts. It’s base 3-4 but they flex the jack backer on the line a lot.

Very true both teams ran 4 man fronts during the national title game as well

Easy on the logic buddy, that stuff isn't well revived around here lol. Btw was your screen name chosen in support of CBJ? Just curious

It was chosen in haste. Don’t even remember what I was shooting for. ButchinA or ButchNah.

Yeah. And those linebackers would be Jordan Allen Darrell Taylor Austin Smith types. I’m saying that linebacker will be on the line with 3 solid DL types...say Emerson,Tuttle and Phillips. That’s a 3-4! Our former DE’s ain’t lining up that way anymore...that’ll be the difference.

We’ll see about that. Not many freshman that can hold up in the 3-4 early on. I like Greg but think he needs to be in the weight room hard to help us first year in this system. You have to be physically ready in a system like this.

If they’re not physically ready, that weak ass 4-2-5 ain’t gonna be any better.

Ummm. We don't have the players to run a 34 and be successful. You do understand the linemen are built differently in a 34 vs 43?

Yeah I heard something about it on TV. Did you know that a large number of our our roster was recruited by 3-4 teams? Many by Pruitt himself?

look at Bama's roster. They started two guys over 300lbs and their light weight was 288.

We have three guys over 300, Tuttle, Johnson, Crosby. we have one other player over 280, Picou. the rest of our DEs are 250ish. Even our "big" DEs are 260-270 range.

right now we don't have the numbers to play either imo, but going 3-4 requires some size we don't have.

I think we will definitely be multiple this year (3-4/4-3) so it won't be a full waste, and for many guys it is going to take some time to change their bodies around to play a 3-4 full time(ish).

Guys like Phillips dropped weight to play 4-3 DE instead of being plugged in at DT. Won’t be a stretch for him to be at 290+ by Fall camp...same as Kongbo. Crosby was going to have to shed major weight to play any at DT. Kongbo also is more natural over 280. Emerson is already at 300...Lawless not far. None of these are coming in to play 4-3 and we haven’t even started on our linebackers if we land the one’s projected. It’s not going to be Alabama level, no one else is...not even UGA or Clemson. We’re already broken. They’re not going to be taught that.
