'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

Not talking about Walker regarding academic issues. Petterson may have some work to do though in that area. Sometimes these things get worked out in time, however with the new 25 player signing limit, coaches are going to do everything possible to make sure the players they recruit will qualify before they let them sign. Bama had BJ Edmonds in 2015, Georgia had Wyatt in 2016. Georgia has one signed recruit now that was unable to early enroll due to an academic issue. It's suppose to get worked out by the May-mester but some of this stuff is in outside hands so it can get dicey. This stuff arises every year around this time.

Emmons was a 2016 class and he never had grade issues. There was an issue with him lacking a core class he would need but he was able to finish that at his school. UGA backed off the moment he got arrested in a car with friends that pot on them. CMR was already catching a lot of grief about players in the program with off the field issues. And yes I know this situation well as I am friends with one of his old HS coaches. The UGA back story about grades was BS and nothing more.

In regards to the new rules from a few years ago teams in the SEC can no sign and place so a player that does not qualify but signs will still count against the 25 cap why we did not let Brown from Texas sign yet until he finished the fall semester and could his grades. Now it looks like he will sign in Feb. Peterson and Walker both were able to sign in December and doubt that if either had a grade concern Saban would allowed them.

From Bama Rivals...

JJ Peterson, Rivals100 from Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, was considered a strong candidate to sign with Alabama for several months. He eliminated all other schools after the new head coach was named in Knoxville. He announced his commitment to the Volunteers at the U.S. Army All-American game.

Peterson decided to give Alabama one final opportunity. Tennessee is in very good shape to hang on to its verbal pledge heading into this trip. Things obviously can change in a heartbeat, but Alabama has a lot of ground to make up this weekend.

New offers have been extended in the last two weeks at different positions. Alabama has yet to offer any new linebacker targets. Alabama will have a good idea on where things stand with each of these players after the weekend. A new offer or two might go out next week if there is any doubt regarding the two commitments or if Peterson is 100-percent locked in with his decision.

I have to disagree with you on the grades, cause I have very reliable info on him and he MOST definitely had grade issues. He continued his laziness in the classroom at Bama, ie. Wouldn't even go to classes. He had a great opportunity and unfortunately will prob piss it down the drain. Which is another problem of his. 🍺💭

My source is one of his HSFB coaches I am friends with and what he told me regarding his academic situation and with what happened with UGA. In the end the kid wanted UT and last I heard it looks like ECU may be his destination.

BTW was just up your way a few weeks ago since it is the closet place for me to head to for trout.

How does a kid as talented as Emmons end up at ECU? Is he not that good?

Good question and think it has to do with him not returning to form after the two surgeries both on the same foot within a few months. His CC season was average even though he led the team in scoring but seem to fumble a lot as well. Only teams that showed interest were Louisville and ECU but not sure where he ends up if not ECU at this point.

Why is it our recruits that we steal from BAMA, all of a sudden have grade problems, no good, or can’t play? Oh, but all Bama recruits are perfect, give me a break...please. Or is it that I’m reading these comments right?:thud:

Not sure what the point is but it was a UGA poster i believe said Peterson had grade issues as I said it was never mentioned while UA was recruiting him and UA still wants him.

I'm familiar with the coaches that were here, as I'm an alum of FHS. Seems we can't keep a coach since Emmons left. We just ran off a great one. Anyways I've herd different from another coach/friend. It really doesn't matter though... I know my Barber son said he really loved Tennessee and wished he would have come. Speaking of the Barber's son... Is that your friend? And yes trout is plentiful

Not him and yes I travel to Wilson Creek at least once a month with 5 & 7 year old sons. They enjoy fishing and eating at Judges afterward.

Judges has some great chicken tenders, I'm sure your kids love em. The BBQ is Aight. I lived up there in your area for Ten years. There is some good high school ball up there.

I grew up in Asheville(South) and yes here in the Triangle good games on Friday night.

I believe it was the UGA poster, and I don’t know why he would say it for? I understand that y’all want him, but y’all already have another nice recruiting cycle coming in. Wouldn’t be nice if every player being recruited were 5* in America? I would love to see it that way.:hi:

Your location says Asheville/NC? Trout are all over WNC. in fact, NC's stocking program is strong. Natives abound backside of Boone NC in freestone Watauga, other side of Boone along BRP. South of Asheville to Cherokee. Even in the headwaters of the French Broad, Brevard into HS, Laurel Rivers. iyam, as good or better than stocked TN trout. love smallie fishing and hooking a 12-15"' native pan Brown.

I currently reside in Chapel Hill but still have a house in Asheville(north). So Morganton is an easy drive for me. When up there I prefer head waters of the French Broad in Rosman or hit the Tuck in Sylva. Sometimes go towards Boone and Cherokee with their expensive day fee to fish trophy fish I only go to Smokemont. I like the Laurel more in the winter and then will cross the state line into TN and fly fish for small mouth on the Chucky. They are very hungry this time of year and the water will move fast with snow run offs. We also camp a lot in the Smokies during the summer and like to fish near Townsend. To be honest anytime I can get in the water is a great time.

The UGA poster I think eluded to that but no UA site or board has even suggested that so I it sounded like sour grapes.

Georgia hasn't been seriously recruiting Peterson for a long time. The only reason I posted anything about him was in response to those questioning how he's being recruited by Saban. I'm quite confident that Saban knows what he's doing. I hope Peterson the best wherever he ends up. The kid is a really good football player. Rush Propst said he's one of the best HS players he's ever coached.

Hubbs said before when asked that he has work to do but it's not one of those situations where people are worried justa dawg fan putting down our win

Glad Hubbs confirmed what I posted...which was that he likely has some work to do. It's not a put down to point out that some of these recruits have work to do in order to qualify. It happens every year. A lot of these kids don't start seriously thinking about their academics until their junior year of HS, which leads them to have to scramble some in the end.
