Elsewhere in 2025, it goes without saying, but there will be plenty of eyes on the tight end position. Some early names to know at this position are DaSaahn Brame, Hollis Davidson and Jack VanDorslear, in our opinion. Davidson was recently on campus, and he has already built a strong relationship with Alec Abeln. He is one the staff believes has a lot of upside. Brame is arguably the most naturally gifted out of the three, and Tennessee has made him feel like a priority early.

2025 tight end Hollis Davidson was recently on campus at Tennessee, and he has been building a strong relationship with Josh Heupel’s staff. “It was awesome, man,” Davidson said of the latest trip to Tennessee. I felt prioritized while I was down there. I got treated really well by the staff. They got down into the details of their program. I had a great time watching their practice. I felt like I could hang with those guys and it was great getting to see that practice in person and be around some of the guys on the team. Coach Abe and Coach Weeks showed a lot of hospitality, and they were really one-on-one with me and down to earth and I really enjoyed that.”
Davidson and Alec Abeln have hit it off well, and the versatile tight end likes a lot about Tennessee’s tight end coach. “I really like that he is a personal person,” Davidson said of Abeln. “He is down to earth and doesn’t sugarcoat anything. If it is bad, he will say it to my face, and if it is good, he will say it to my face. I like the transparency with him. He stays in touch really well. He texts me and checks on me, and I love the way he stays in contact with me. He seems like an awesome guy and solid coach.”
“He is super down to earth,” he said of Heupel. “My dad wasn’t really too familiar with Tennessee. He is now, but before the visit, he really hadn’t done any research. We are eating lunch, and Heupel comes and sits down and starts talking to us and is really laid back. I knew he was the head coach, but my dad didn’t, and after he walked away, my dad talked about how awesome he was. I was like, ‘yeah, that is there head coach.’ He didn’t even realize. Heupel is awesome, and he is a good guy to talk to. I sat down with him like 30 minutes before I left. He stays in touch and has been texting me, and that means a lot to me that the head coach of the school is reaching out to me.”
“I like their offense, a lot,” Davidson said. “They go fast, and I like that. I am a fast player with energy, and with playing fast, it comes with energy, and I love energy. I feel like I can fit in their offense very well. They run 11 personnel a majority of the time, but I mean, that is not necessarily a negative. It just means more competition, but I love to compete. I enjoyed the way they used their tight ends during the practice. They were getting some balls, and it was a great experience to see those tight ends practice. Ethan Davis, we were talking, and it was a great environment to be around.”
Davidson does not have a timeline for making a decision, as he is working on a visit slate for Junior Days and the Spring. “A big thing for me is the relationship I have with their tight ends coach,” he said. “I am big on relationships. That is my number one thing. I want to major in Business, so a solid Business School with academic support. I like when the tight ends don’t get just used to pull and block. That is a big part of the game, and if you watch my film, you can see that I love to go and block and will go out of my way to go and hit somebody. But, I am also good in the passing game, and I feel like I have a double-sided skillset, and I like schools that can shine that light on that.”
