Atlanta (Ga.) Riverwood 2020 Kyle Kennard is starting to see his recruitment pick up, with Tennessee extending a scholarship this week and Missouri extending a scholarship earlier in the month. “I’ve been waiting on SEC schools to notice so it was a very exciting moment for me,” Kennard said.
The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Kennard did most of his damage on the interior as a junior but projects on the edge down the road. He registered 56 tackles including 19 stops for loss and eight sacks, giving offensive linemen fits with his quickness off the snap.
A few schools are standing out early in the cycle. “I like Arizona State,” Kennard said. “Virginia is showing a lot of love and Missouri is a top.” The opportunity from the Vols was certainly an intriguing one.
“Talked on the phone with Coach (Chris) Rumph,” Kennard said. “They told me how high they were on me and how I would fit with their schemes and things of that sort.”
Kennard plans to visit Georgia Tech on Saturday. He plans to see several other schools in March. 247Sports ranks Kennard as the nation’s No. 20 weak-side defensive end.
