That lead will dwindle as the week goes on. Palin's speech tonight, and McCain's speech on Thursday will narrow the gap quite a bit.

I actually think the distractions will continue to overshadow the convention and Obama will extend his lead for at least one more day. Call it the negative Palin bounce. That said, the race should narrow again by early next week (back to 4-5 point Obama lead).

where exactly do they get these polls? i've always been curious

they call people who are home during the day and still have a land line. I don't know any people like that so I don't trust polls much

somewhat surprising, since most Obama supporters are busy throwing sandbags on top of buses in St. Paul. Or maybe after attacking a bus carrying Cub Scouts they all ran home so they could be polled.

Up 6 points, this is what you goons are hanging your hat on? The media has twisted Bush and this economy, war, etc. into the worst period in American history and this guy can only get that much of a lead?

I think internally the Obama campaign can't be happy about this. After the spectacle they put together in Denver last week, a 5 point bounce is a whimper.

Yep the RCP average had him at about 3 up prior to the DNC - moving to 6.5 up is a small convention bounce.

It will be interesting to see if there is a counter bounce a week out from the RNC.
