1. If those two teams combine for six or more conference wins, I'll be shocked. They are incredibly short on personnel.
2. Auburn is so limited in what they can do offensively, they are too easy to scout. Rutgers knew what they were running as soon as they hit the frontcourt.
3. Mike Rice is a carbon copy of Bob Huggins 20 years ago. Rutgers will be in the NCAA Tournament in '12-'13.
4. Tony Barbee has a rebuilding job of historic proportions on his hands. I've been saying all year how bad I think they are, but I've underestimated it.
5. I do give both coaches high marks for their team's efforts. Both sides got after it.
6. The Consol Center gets it. If you are going to have free throw contests and t shirt tosses, at least have hot chicks out there running the show.
7. The arena is filling up nicely. The second game will have a super crowd.
8. Got to talk briefly to Jay Bilas and Mark Jones at halftime. They seemed personable enough.
9. Everyone likes the idea of expanding the Big East-SEC series. The back end games won't be great, but that's no big deal.
10. Kevin Mackey has forgotten more basketball than most groups of a hundred know. It's like listening to Hubie Brown.
