Season 2007

Regal Soccer Stadium was officially completed for the start of the 2007 season. It became a fortress.
The Lady Vols were undefeated going 9-0 at home. They kept a clean sheet in 7 of the 9 home matches, and didn’t allow a single goal in their final 6 home games. The only other time Tennessee has gone undefeated at home was in 2021.

This is Kylee Rossi, she became Tennessee's all-time leading goal scorer with her overtime game winner against Clemson in the NCAA Tournament second round. She ended her career with 43 goals.

Jaida Thomas is sitting at 39 goals and only needs 5 to break Rossi’s record.

2008 season

So 2008 was Angela Kelly’s 9th year at the helm. In her first 8 years, the Lady Vols had won 3 SEC Tournaments, and besides her first year, Tennessee went to the NCAA Tournament 7 straight years.

Unfortunately the regular season was a disappointment, going 8-10-1. Tennessee went into the tournament as the 6 seed.

First match was against #3 Auburn which Tennessee won 2-1.

Next up #2 LSU. It was a hard fought win that had to be decided on penalty kicks.

Finals the Lady Vols went up against Georgia who had just beaten Tennessee in Knoxville 2-0 in the last regular season match.

With a 1-0 victory over fourth-seeded Georgia, the University of Tennessee women's soccer team won the 2008 SEC Tournament Championship. The Lady Vols secured the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament with their fourth tournament title in program history. The Orange and White advanced to its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament.

After the /many/ times we've heard about her mother's connection to UT and the women's BB program, let's hope
Ms. Blue is genuinely talented. There is going to be lot of competition for playing time.

2009 season

Angela Kelly had some great seasons, but things were definitely in decline.

Lady Vols finishing 1st in the East for 4 straight years from 2002 to 2005, but ended up dropping a spot each year finishing second, third, fourth and then fifth in the SEC East in her 10th season.

Tennessee went out of the SEC Tournament in the first round, and their streak of 8 consecutive NCAA tournaments ended in 2009.

Not sure what caused the decline for the program?

Kelly's recruiting fell off--and rather dramatically. Who knows why. When Pensky took over he had Wilkinson, who was recovering from a serious knee injury, and and that was about it in terms of quality talent. Team had a serious dearth of quality players. It was too bad. She should have, could have, built a powerhouse program given the success of the previous four/five years--but failed to do so.

2010 Season

Another bad season for Angela Kelly and the Lady Vols.
Back to back seasons of going out in the first round of the SEC Tournament and no at large bid for the NCAA Tournament.

This will be a good test for us, especially the many new/young players we have.

I just came here to ask if there would be spring soccer games! We are season ticket holders for basketball, which has been a real rollercoaster experience this season. Soccer was also a rollercoaster of emotions, but my expectations are a bit lower plus we get to be outside. Excited for this! (And wary of how Joe Kirt elects to put people on the field)

Yes, there will be spring soccer games. I should think the schedule will be announced very soon. Some teams start their spring season in March, and that is obviously not far off!

Last year Kirt announced the spring schedule around the twenty second of February.
