Game thread: #15/13 Lady Vols at Florida. Sunday, Feb. 23, 1pm ET, SECN

I wouldn't put anyone on this team in the low bb IQ spectrum, they are all average to above average. For Cooper I think her IQ is decent on offense and elite on defense. As examples, Brooklyn Miles and Justine Pissott are low bb IQ.

And I think that's fine. But the reason I ask is because I'd like to naysayers to at least either admit that Cooper is the team leader in boneheaded plays, or toss up another option. Otherwise, if we both agree that Cooper is the *lowest* in bball IQ, I think whether she's "low" or merely "medium" in bball IQ would be to miss the point — which is, in spite of her obviously fantastic ball skills, she makes a lot of mistakes that come down to focus/mental. Which is why I use the specific phraseology "underperforming her potential".

To that point, how long would you think it's been since the last time she led the team in plusminus? She's done it zero times this month (Spear has 4 now) and didn't manage it last month either. The last time she topped plusminus was against NCCU! And hasn't done it a single time against P5 competition all season.

Now, unlike Spear during her plusminus disasters (almost always ending negative, often by double digits, even in games where she scores 20+ points!) Cooper is at least net positive for many of these games [tho not always] — but she's never at the top of the chart. And I don't think the reason that our best ball-skill player is rarely the player who propels the team the most is going to be single-faceted, it's a combination of several factors. All of those factors have already been mentioned and strongly argued against, so I won't rehash any of them here: I'm sure people will continue to rehash them for future game threads until she cleans it up. Which is looking doubtful to ever happen, so we just have to take the good with the bad. I'm glad she's on the team, and I don't think any of the people who have lifted criticisms want her gone. It's just that we're all UT fans, and we want her to actually elevate the team as much as she is capable of. We wouldn't have 6 losses if her bad habits had been dealt with in the pre-conference slate.

That was quite the word salad to say you overlooked the very statistics you cite ... from 2 days ago.

Cooper was +17, leading the team in said statistic against Florida.

Well, I think there is far from a consensus that Cooper is the lowest "Low IQ player' on the team. You have actually affixed an even worse and less deserving label on Coop. So congrats I guess.

But to your counterfactual, that we would not have 6 losses without Cooper. I agree 100%. Without Cooper, this team would likely have 8 to 10 losses and probably would not been nearly as close in the losses to OK and LSU. So you are spot on that assertion or to put it another way, this team probably would not be sitting on 21 wins without Coop.

It is always a pleasure to find convergence on this board!!!

Knock it off, already with the sniping. Thank goodness Cooper shows more smarts than the few fans going negative on her.

We’ve just won 4 straight.
Individuals have been going at it all day. Looks like they would eventually get tired of reiterating the same thing over and over...

Thanks. For future reference, how do you get to this page?

There’s prolly also a way to do it through an NCAA site. I just showed you the way I do it.

I do it the same as @Orange. Getting there is like trying to find 17th century treasure using a pirate map passed around through 11 poker games between 55 illiterate, crotchety, and probably siphlitic old seadogs.

😆 Remind me and I'll link it after the game. It's a great site imo, intelligibly arranged. You have to remember that it covers all news about all UT sports.
