I hope we worked on our press break. We had decent spacing but our ball handlers made some classic press break errors. They went fast, then slow instead of slow, then fast. They caught the inbound and quickly dribbled into trouble, then a bad pass was inevitable. They need to catch the inbound, survey the court, pass fake to move the defenders, then bust the press with speed. The only way to get the other team out of the press is to make them pay. After a couple layups / open 3s, they return to the half-court defense really fast. But if they sense any fear or confusion, you're in for a long night. Kind of a zero-sum game.

Massey has us the 72-63 favorite, and RealTimeRPI has us winning 78-59. Both services project us losing 4 straight after this, assuming we don't have something rescheduled to replace the Vandy game on 2/14. Gotta beat Florida before a really tough stretch coming up.

It looks like a great opportunity to establish themselves as the best in the SEC.

Well, Tennessee barely escaped against Ole Miss and suddenly the lowly Lady Rebels became the greatest 1-5 team in the history of the SEC. Expect several more gallons of turd polish tomorrow if they struggle with 2-6 Florida...

It would be nice to get enough separation in this game to give some legs a rest going into this next murderer's row stretch of games. Rae and Re been playing around 37 mins and JH been playing lower 30s for several games. Be good if all got in high 20s in mins tomorrow.

I’m thinking Burrell will need to be up to the task again defensively tomorrow. She’s probably the best matchup for Lavender Briggs. If we can keep Briggs out of the middle of the paint we can really disrupt their offense. If we can get a performance like Kentucky from Burrell on the defensive end she’ll have a hard night.

They aren’t really a stellar 3 point shooting squad for a team that shoots so many. If we utilize our size properly we can dominate them.

We need to make sure Briggs' face matches her name by the end of the game.

Florida has been competitive in a lot of their losses so I expect them to build on the Ole Miss approach. We don't seem to play at home as well as we should. Today will be a good day to shake off whatever TBA coodies we may have and lay the wood to the gators.

Every game in the SEC is a battle. The evidence is in the games that have already been played. A&M was taken to the final minutes of the fourth quarter by Auburn. Before Vandy quit the season their game with Kentucky was a two possession game. Arkansas beat Florida by 4. A lot of games between the top teams and the lower teams have been competitive. I wouldn't expect that to change today.
