Indiana likes to come out the gate scoring quickly,,,Berger, Holmes, and Patberg are their 3-headed monster, they combined for 48 or Indiana's 68 points. With 42 of their 68 points in the paint...look for UT to go big early and stop the IU inside scoring attack... I predict the starters to be Davis, Burrell, Horston, Key and Green....Look for Key/Green to score 30 between them,,,Jordan will shut down Berger and Rennia will reemerge with 20 points,,,,Burrell will continue to play solid and populate the entire statline

If the starters I want to start, do start,,look for them to come out of the gate like a top ten team and make a statement to the org that it's time to let loose the veterans....The reason I think Key and Green willl have big games, is they have been questioned recently and UI scores in the paint,, that said, this will be an opportunity to really stand out.

We're fixing to see the Lady Vols we have missed for a while folks!

Coach Jumper's prediction: UT 84 UI 68

if we must lose, make it by 10,,,4 point or less losses are tougher as you know 1 or 2 plays was the difference,,,20 point loss, nothing went right

Not me. No way! Why would I want a game with a score that indicated nothing went right? I would much rather the score be a one-point than a 20-point loss because, while obviously it's disappointing to lose by one lousy point, at least my team wasn't made to look foolish. And I think it's healthier mentally to know you had a chance to win if only a couple of plays had been different.

from a fans perspective yes, but as a coach,,,a one or two possession loss tears at you

You don't think a one or two possession loss tears at us fans?
some but most would look at it as an almost-win
as a coach I look at them as "why didn't we...which thing killed us"
also
there is the rule..."players win games, coaches lose them"
so, I take a win as progress, not victory (maybe for the moment, but) ultimately I look at it for progress"

But
No Matter!
We're gonna kick some hoosier tail, by 2 or by 20,,,we're about to hit a stride
If they will let them

Indiana came close to upsetting Kentucky in their house, and has looked pretty decent to start the year. I have a feel for what the score will be at the end of this but I don't see much point posting it.

I'll put it this way - if Tennessee can upset Indiana at home, it'll serve notice that improvement has been made. I certainly hope that is the case.

this team's makeup and emphasis' are miles away from that of the makeup and game of the KY team...They are run and gun, live by the 3 die by the 3...we can play speed, fastbreak, inside-out, long range, sets...we have a ton of different looks.

Not sure if you've seen KY play, but that's not at all how they play. They have at least 4 players (Benton, Howard, Patterson and Edwards) that can shoot from deep, create their own midrange shot or take it inside. Edwards gives them a legitimate low post threat and they have decent size on the bench. They are also an excellent running team and play in-your-face defense to force turnovers. In short, they do everything Tennessee does, except they do it better (except for rebounding). UK barely survived at home, which is why I wouldn't put my paycheck on Tennessee on this one (but to be honest, this is one of those games that I wouldn't put money on period).

This will be a tough game if we don’t guard the three ball. That has been a weak part of our game. We have them height wise but UI is a good defensive team which will stretch you to the max. Burrell will more than likely have a good game but we need Davis to show up. With our height inside we should be able to dominate. We also need to play some good defense. This team is like ants at a picnic and will be all over you. On paper we are properly the best but that is on paper. They are an excellent shooting team and appear to be a bit better than West Virginia. We can win this one but we will have to play good defense and shoot the ball well. It is a winnable game.

The defense is better this season but not where it needs to be. This game will require that we take away the three point line and when they drive the ball hopefully Key and others can defend without fouling. The three point defense against Furman in the first half was horrible. You can't play half a game on defense they must come out from the beginning to pressure the ball with all they have otherwise the upset won't happen. I'm thinking holding them to 65 or under gives us a great chance to win. We have as much talent as they do certainly not as well developed hopefully it will be someday. No reason for players like Key and Horston not to be stars for this team you wonder why it is taking them so long to get to the level they look capable of reaching. Burrell doing her part and Davis needs to get a little more serious and focused for the rest of the season. I expect a close game if we come to play never know which team is going to show up sometimes we have issues in effort and decision making hopefully with each game both get better.

I go into today's game with no expectations like most of the Lady Vol games in the past few seasons. I feel like we have the talent to compete with them and to beat them. I've felt that way many times before and a lot of the time we have lost the game. I hope we win today.

I stand by my prediction,,,if the lineup is changed, we will win big...They were ready to do it last game but got sidetracked,,,I know they are chomping at the bit for this one.

Look out Indiana, it's Lady Vol time
I wish I had this much confidence in my team....but I think the Lady Vols are gonna lose and would like it if we dont get blown out the gym
