HOOPS CENTRAL: Lady Vols vs. Wofford
Tennessee (7-6) and Wofford (9-3) open the second halves of their seasons on Tuesday, as they meet in a 6:32 p.m. ET contest at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. Both teams are coming off winter break, with UT last playing at No. 2 Stanford on Dec. 18 and Wofford visiting UNC Asheville on Dec. 19.

The Lady Vols have been playing their best basketball of the season over the past five games, pushing (then) No. 6 Virginia Tech and second-ranked Stanford to the limit before falling 59-56 and 77-70, respectively. Tennessee had Stanford on the ropes at Maples Pavilion in the last game, leading the Cardinal by eight late in the third quarter and carrying a five-point lead into the fourth frame before a 4-for-21 shooting spell over the final 10 minutes ended a chance at the Big Orange's biggest win of the season.

Wofford, meanwhile, enters having won back-to-back road affairs, triumphing at Bellarmine, 69-56, on Dec. 17 and overtaking UNC Asheville on Dec. 19, 79-67, after falling at No. 8 North Carolina on Dec. 11.

Coach Jumper:
This game is the last one before SEC conference play begins at FLA next week.
Expect the expected
UT 97 Wofford 45

Number 166 Wofford has two really good guards Rose and Carman and they will be the main two we'll have to contain. I see this as about a 25 to 30 point win. Tennessee 85 Wofford 57

Like everything this season, this game has alot more going on than it appears. Not that the game itself will be difficult at all. But with SEC play in days, it's time to get RJ fully reintegrated and comfortable. It's time to let a starting five plus a well placed 2 or 3 to gel and click as a unit.

But it's also KJH last chance to throw the rotation door open wide and we know how she loves to do that. Also, they have 3 games this week, including a travel game. Need to save legs. And for the sake of all things basketball holy, cannot get anyone injured, especially in a cakewalk.

LVs win 88-50 and let's see how the coaching staff manages it all.

Great game to get the rust off before going on the road to play Florida. Hoping that RJ plays 20+ minutes including starting, that Sara continues to rebound from early season slump and earns a permanent starting spot, Powell has 6 or more assists, both centers show improvement, Suarez has 7+ points and no more than 1 turnovers, and that all the critics can say is that we looked good because this was a cupcake.

We go to Florida? I thought they were coming to Knoxville.

In Gainesville, that is probably an L.

You’re the classic Debbie Downer! Do you even know anything about Florida, or are you just heaping your typical negativity onto the pile? My bet would be on the latter!!

Yes, I studied Florida last week. They are like 12-1 this year. Bigger than us. Didn't they also beat us last year?

I am a King of Optimism. The polar opposite of Debbie Downer.

Don’t think Wofford is a total pushover. See this as a game that could be close around halftime. But we win by 25 or so

Florida has not played the same tough schedule as the Lady Vols. They lost to unranked Florida State and to 20th ranked Oklahoma. They also had some close games with teams like Prairie View. The Lady Vols took both ranked VT and Stanford to the brink. There is no real reason to conclude that they will lose against Florida. If the LVS play up to their ability, and stay out of foul trouble, this is a win. Go Lady Vols.

Hard to forget that 25 point beating from last year. But, yes...we could possibly win at Florida. It will be a dog fight.

like practice hard = playing time . Some wanted less players coach. I for one like no starting spot or mins giving . every lady vols know the plan. no special treatment.

Her Hoops has us winning 84-57. Feels about right.
Her Hoops also has us winning our next 9 games.

We will have a good idea how the season will go after the first four games ! Florida, Vandy , and Miss.State are our home & away teams for this year ….. If Alabama doesn’t shock us and we win the other three games by January 8 th. Florida, Vandy , and Miss. State we will play them again ….. hopefully seven wins expected in those first four SEC teams ! 🙏
