Game Thread: Memphis v Lady Vols, Wed Dec 18th ; Away game; 8:30 PM Eastern; ESPNews: win 90-75

Just no. If it was more than a cramp or a quick tweak she would never have seen the floor again tonight. I think it just scared her really badly and she over reacted. No way they take the slightest chance with her.
Meanwhile, Carson Beck returns to the SEC Championship with a season ending elbow injury..

Not only were turnovers very close at 17-16, but steals were even at 7-7. Very unusual for us so far, but again, we haven't seen a guard anywhere near Hageman. Also possessions even at 81.

Coop had 4 of our 7 steals. She will obliderate whatever the LV season record for steals is.

First time in awhile Tennessee will have 5-7 players averaging double figures.
This level of scoring will carry over into conference play for Spencer, Spear, Spearman, Whitehorn, and Cooper.
Each of these players have been scorers in the ACC and SEC. That won’t change.
The key is having players such as Latham, Boyd, Darby, and Hollingshead continue to play a role when they aren’t scoring a lot which has been steady through 9 games.
I say it’s time to give Ayodele or Wells a chance to hold the 10th spot in the rotation.

1 point game outside of the third quarter. Shows big improvement there. Kim has said we had to improve in our third quarters. It won us the game tonight.

Came out focused and handled business. Fourth quarter was mostly bad whistles and traded baskets. It was never in question after the first 5 minutes of the third.

You just say anything.. Latson? Olsen? Gordon?
I hope the player has a good season doesn’t impact Tennessee in any way, yet to exaggerate after a solid but obviously not a great performance is really unnecessary.

The officiating was questionable at best tonight and a lot of calls didn’t only favor Memphis team but their guards in particular.
Several missed traveling calls.
Inconsistent whistles on contact that led to a ton of free throws for Memphis.

I said earlier Latson is a better pure scorer, but Hageman is much better in every other aspect esp her handles against our press. And no, I don't think Olsen was close. Hageman was fantastic the first half, the best player on the floor. She shredded the LV press while Olsen struggled against it. Second half Hageman just ran out of gas in her first game in a long time, also the LVs put a good D on her and no one else could score for them.

Opinions can vary, but I stand by mine that Hageman was by far the most effective guard the LVs have played against, esp the first half. I also said they'll see many as good as her in the upcoming SEC season.

Surely to God they wouldn't have played her again if thought there was any chance of the slightest injury. That would be a fireable offense.
Exactly. I know I mentioned this before, but Spencer herself has said something to the effect that she gets really reactive when she thinks she's hurt (she made a derogatory remark about herself, but I can't remember it and I certainly don't want to use the wrong mean word :p). She has gone to the locker room in at least 4 games this year to be checked out medically and has come back to play again in all of them. Perhaps she has a low pain tolerance, which is no sin.

A partial tear, maybe. I worked on my feet for months with a torn meniscus and partially torn MCL. It only hurt when it became inflamed and I was able to keep going with a compression sleeve.
I've had 2 ACLs (basketball and water-skiing), 2 MCLs and torn cartilage. The ACLs were thrashing-around worst pain ever - wish I could block the memory.

Maybe she could walk on one...not me, or anyone I'm familiar with.

Girl gotta stop scaring us. She was sobbing and saying “my knee, my knee.”

That is like women’s basketball worst words of all time lol

Hadn't heard about her injury fear. Would have made me feel better to know. Obviously it was an over reaction since she came back and played. Bless her for that struggle.

She also had a run of the yips on free throws, said that's why she shoots them so quick, so that she doesn't have time to think about it.

Good for her being aware of her sports psychology and working to address it.

My college girlfriend tore hers in a match. Soccer player, extremely tough. Was in intense pain and sobbing immediately, never saw her cry before or after that.

Cooper was forcing her to her left and the second half was to double team and make her give the ball up and make the other team mates beat you ! Both defensive strategies were smart ! She is probably the best guard we’ve seen so far this year
