[RAVOL]

They were supposed to be a 22 point underdog to LSU. LSU is the best team they have played. The others were more like the team we played tonight and they didn't win those by as much as we did.

I had 100 to 60. Not bad but no cigar. This is there best game of the year as I see it. Always enjoyed watching the Lady Vol’s. My girl Sara didn’t have her best game, but it’s coming. Nice win. As always go Lady Vol’s.

Pulling for Sara to snap out of this funk. I think she started slow last season.

She never really got in a groove last season imo. She mentally struggled the entire season. She puts way too much pressure on herself and takes herself out of the game mentally.

She is such a talented player so it’s hard to watch. Both of her coaches at UT have raved about how she practices but we just aren’t seeing that in games. Gotta hope it clicks at some point.

Pick the score, not pick the spread. The spread would be a single value. The score requires two values.

If we'd shot 60 percent we'd scored something like 135 points. We shot 46 percent not to bad, but the 10 for 41 from the three is ugly.

The 10 for 41 stat is something else, as is the 62% FT shooting. They've been able to overwhelm everyone with volume and pressure so far, but I have absolutely no idea what this team is going to do when they run into the more talented opponents on their schedule. Like, zero. None. Zilch.

That stretch at the end of January and the beginning of February is going to be the most severe litmus test imaginable. In a four out of five game stretch, they'll play four top ten teams in Texas, South Carolina, UConn, and LSU. Again. I have no idea what this team is going to do. It will be interesting. One thing is for certain - come February 10th we'll have a good idea of what Tennessee has put together this year.

I know that if they shoot 41 threes they will need to make more than 10 in those games. Certainly learn more about the team next Wednesday Florida St is a good team and they can really score. Their defense is nothing special but they can put points up.

Just got back from the game, so I haven't read the thread yet and can't do so till later. I know that WCU is a weak team. However, I feel encouraged by our growth on both sides of the ball. I sure hope Jewel will be back ASAP as we need her three-point shooting. Otherwise, I thought there were some unbelievable hustle plays throughout the game. I never remember seeing our offensive rebounding off missed threes better than tonight. The three-point shot is so hard to rebound consistently due to the variable trajectory of the ball, but time and again I saw are players tracking it while in the air and making acrobatic moves to get in the right place to rebound it. I can't imagine that this could have been captured fully on tv because often our players would be moving several feet to get to the ball and would arrive for the rebound just in time. I wish I could believe we were missing so many 3s just to practice these types of rebounds. In any case, it certainly takes the string out of the misses when you can rebound them and score.

This is the first game in which we hustled this hard in the 4th quarter with no sign of let up except the last minute. I love teams that don't get complacent with a big lead. I thought we looked a bit fatigued in the 4th the last two games but not here. Yes, the opponent was weaker that our last two opponents, but full out effort for a whole game is hard to do no matter who the opponent is. It gave me more confidence in their conditioning and platooning systems, respectively.

And finally, it was a joy to see Gillian play with so much energy, focus, and looking so fit. I think there was a lot of hope that perhaps this would be the case this year for Gillian, but this is the first full game I have seen from her in which she consistently looked good. Similarly, Tess is a surprise in that she is quite good in this system. She always has had surprisingly quick hands, which she used to good effect tonight. And boy, do we need her three-point shooting. The broadcast picked her as player of the game, and she sounded that she is absolutely loving being on this team with this coaching staff. I thought she might have some difficulties with the transition, but she is fully on board and contributing.
Nice job by everyone! Let's build on the momentum for the FSU game!

I’m not sure what I saw. They showed her and it looked like the top of an orange boot on her leg. Maybe it was someone else’s leg.

It doesn’t sound serious unless Kim was just deflecting in the post-game. She was asked about it and said ‘we have two days off and then we’ll reassess.’ Or something really close to that. Hoping it’s just a minor thing.

Only 7 turnovers. Only 7!!!!!

an off game by Spencer still means 5 assists and 0 turnovers as well as some good defense. I think she is on pace to have the best assist:turnover ratio in the conference. It will go down some with better competition but so will everyone else's.

Weakest spot I saw was in help defense in the post. There were several times Spearman or another player would turn away from the opponent and leave a teammate to get burned.

Not sure if we are teaching something different, but I know last year these situations near the basket were an automatic double.

Other than that, everything else is improving and all of the players look better. Tess hit a drive to the basket she would never have hit last year. Gillian looked confident and was only a step behind instead of two, which is OK for a big girl. She and Ruby seem to be developing some chemistry playing together.

The other thing I noticed is that we introduced a different sort of press. I think Kim is rolling these variations out one at a time and then will be able to call for whichever one she wants by the end of the season. Before we sold out on trapping after the entry pass. Tonight we baited the second pass more and tried to get it or press that person.

I have thought several times watching them play this season that I wish like hell she had more than one year to play for Kim.

Next two games will be interesting to see how this team stands. They can beat the ever-living tar out of mid teams, but big step up in class with FSU and Iowa.
