When the game plan was developed that included evidently no 2 TE formations because Ark had not shown a 3-2-6 def before. Play charts show the 2 TEs played total plays same as Tenn total plays. Ark was working on it all week due to OU success slowing the offense down.

You’d think the coaches would expect opponents to use what others had success with. I guess they know it now.

IF….and that’s a big IF, this is the case, we may never win another game! We have a staff that makes a plan on Monday and doesn’t vary from it in any way. Crazy!

WTF?

Our guys just weren’t as sharp as they are capable of being. They played flat and Arkansas played inspired. Even when the D would make a good play the Arkansas runners would get an extra yard or two just on personal effort.
Yea, some different sets might have helped but we didn’t bring our A game. Same thing can be said of Bama.

Well, nobody total me but doing simple math, Tennessee ran 68 plays. MK played like 54 & HS played 14. Considering Tennessee doesn’t run 4 WR or 2 RB sets, it’s extremely likely they were never on the field at the same time.

Game plans are usually developed on Monday night & early Tuesday after studying hours of videos. Teams practice the plays during the week on Tuesday, Wed (two big practice days) & Thursdays. Unless something unusual like injury, information or suspension occurs, changes are not usually made.

This defensive "kryptonite" came from Tulsa years ago. If Heupel hasn't solved the puzzle by now, I doubt it's gonna happen. Maybe Banks should add this invincible defense to our arsenal?

The question is why? And why are we good for one of these stinkers every season? It's not like we had nothing to play for.

That’s the eternal question…it happens to just about every team every season…sometimes you have so much more talent that you still win in an ugly game…other times it’s an upset. I remember a game we lost when Dobbs was QB and he didn’t play well. Turns out he was tied up all week on his senior engineering project and just didn’t have the time to put into prep during the week. Other guys may be mad at their girlfriend, pissed about some off field issue, or who knows what. But I’ve heard numerous coaches say you can count on having at least one flat game during the season.

That’s fine. Sam Pittman himself said they put in the def after seeing OU success. They’d not shown it before during this season. Again the participation chart shows it was very unlikely Tennessee ran much, if any, 2 TE sets.

TEs dropped the ball almost every time they were thrown, plus they missed about half of their blocks on running plays. They were a no factor in the game.

Alabama got outcoached and it was evident. They had no answer for Vanderbilt's offense and Vandy controlled the game from start to finish because of it.
No excuse for not brining the A game after a bye week and the offense has been hampered to shut down twice this year by SEC the two SEC teams they faced. They have to fix it ASAP.
