nice how Spurrier refers to the professor as a "kid"...real nice.

"I'm going under the assumption that he's been falsely accused," Spurrier said. "He didn't even know the kid. I just don't believe he'd do that."

It could be taken either way.

Ughh, I don't wanna talk about it

When spurrier made those comments, he didn't even know who "the kid." It came out recently that it was a professor. Plus, to spurrier, a sixty two yearl old man, a 34 year old would be a kid to him.

one thing is for sure though, Garcia needs to be disciplined. He'd better shape up, or ship out.

It's going to be rough for him to get back in the good graces of Spurrier. UT fans can't really talk though. Lee Powell was a TE that got kicked off before summer camps were over with because of a DUI

Lee Smith. He went to Powell High School. The difference here is that he was kicked off because of the DUI. Spurrier didn't kick Garcia off and seems to be making excuses for the kid.

I don't thinks he's making excuses, but Garcia flat out lied to spurrier. these comments were made two or three days ago when all of the evidence and the arrest warrent hadn't even come out.

A lot of the evidence STILL has not come out, but it's pretty obvious he did it after hearing news yesterday and today.

That is true. I didn't mean to sound negative towards SOS. It just seems as if he needs to cut bait with Garcia instead of waiting. I know he may be found innocent, but it's obvious that trouble follows this kid.

Easy, warrior. I think it's best Spurrier gets all of the facts before making a decision. If true, and if this kid has been lying to SOS, I would agree that it's time to cut bait.

I think Spurrier has a better track record than anyone in this area. As long as he's been here, he's shown players the road whether they were all stars or not.

For starters, I think the boy needs a hair cut. :twocents:

I think the allegations that Lee porked the principal had to do with him getting kicked off as well. We have guys on the team now that have done worse.

Actually, the allegations didn't get him kicked out because they were dropped. He had previous encounters with the law and former told him one slip and he's gone.

I find it hard to believe that Garcia has never been in trouble before these 2 weeks, so, even if dropped, it likely wasn't the first, nor the last, occurence.

Lee Smith from Powell sorry for that mistake. He went to Marshall and got in a fight in the locker room up there. Anybody else hear about that?

Ahh. To be young and dumn and throw your chances away early. Youth is wasted on the young.

Question for some Gamecock fans. How is Chris Smelley doing? He was a local star here in highschool and I was wondering how or where he is on the depth chart.

No, I didn't hear that, but I did hear that he had a very cocky attitude, so no one liked him at Knox Central, so he transferred to Powell....where no one liked him.

Great question, Tusk. Personally, I am a big fan of the kid. He got in the Miss.State and Georgia games only to get his heel nicked up and miss the rest of the season. The injury probably wasn't that bad, but he did get a medical redshirt out of the deal. I think he has the mental stuff a QB needs and has tremendous confidence. I remember when he first got here, his TV interviews were quite impressive. He looks people straight in the eye and is very well spoken. Plus, we haven't heard any "off-the-field" news about him like this new yo-yo. He seems to be a good kid.

He's definitely the #2 QB backing up Blake Mitchell. I hope Chris pushes Blake hard for playing time. I think he will be a player for us this year.

As for Garcia, I hope Spurrier makes him pay for the antics he's pulled. Talk about embarrassing the school. There is a rumor out that he'll be sent home for the spring and may be able to return for fall camp with the rest of the freshman. He graduated early from high school to enroll for spring practice.

You will never have any off the field or classroom problems from him. He played at a small private school here in Tuscaloosa (American Christian Academy) and broke all of Brodie Croyle's passing records. He wanted to play here but Shula WOULD NOT offer him a scholarship. Just one more in a long series of assanine decisions. He lost a lot of supporters for that, and I have no doubt that Chris will come back to haunt us in a big way. I wish him well!
