...are why I strongly encourage fans of this basketball team to temper their enthusiasm after each win or respectable loss (like those at MSU and at home to UK).

This team may beat a team they have no business beating (Florida for example), but they are just as capable of losing to teams they have no business losing to as well; tonight for example.

The problems that will plague this team for the rest of the team are as follows...

-We have no PG. Golden is trying his hardest and makes good plays at times, but makes some of the most head-scratching decisions as well. He just doesn't have the PG mentality and he shows it often. He is still our best option there for the time being though, so get used to it.

-None of our off-guards have the ability to get to the basket and finish, thus making them one-dimensional. Tatum is mind-numbingly inept aside of spot-up shooting. The problem is, he doesn't know it. McRae has no faith in his ability to drive and if he is not hitting from outside (which he's not right now), he is a liability everywhere else. McBee is a spot-up shooter, pure and simple. He does nothing else well consistently outside of hustling. Richardson is a fantastic defender, but is a liability offensively. Average shooter and again, cannot get in the lane and finish. They are all collectively terrible at feeding the post. The post is where we feared we would be at a decided disadvantage this year, and as it turns out, this could be a strength of our team if the guards would just get it into them.

-We do not value possessions. We are a turnover waiting to happen offensively.

There are other problems that have started to crop up recently (FT shooting has regressed for example), but this team is too Jekyll and Hyde to expect some sort of postseason fantasy.

Yup.

They are also young. Young teams struggle on the road. It's basically a fact.

They can still get a good seed in the NIT, but this basically shuts down all NCAA Tourney talk.

I can fantasize about a deep run in the 32-team bracket all I want.
