I am actually proud to say I graduated from there. When we beat Kentucky, it got pretty ridiculous on campus. This is also a good win.

Charlotte has a rag tag team this year. I heard on the news today that they have something like six scholarship players and eight bodies all told suit up for tonight's game.

I also think one of their starters transfered from NC Central or something. They're brutal.

The guy from NC Central might be their best offensive player by the end of the season.

I don't really understand why Charlotte can't have a program comparable to Temple, Cincinnati, etc. with the players in this town and the surrounding areas. Never made sense to me.

They were damn good under Lutz for most of his tenure. Moving from C-USA to the A-10 was a terrible decision.

Yeah, Cedric.

I just looked it up and Cedric and Mel Watkins were both from NC and were the core of their Final Four team.

Off topic, but I also discovered today that David Thompson grew up in Shelby. I have been through that town fifty times and I haven't seen one sign pointing that out.

His flaming out of the NBA because of a raging cocaine habit might have something to do with that.

Well... It's either him or Kenny Powers for Shelby's affection right?

I kid, but I just googled "famous shelby nc residents" and you should see that list. Pretty impressive for a town the size of Greeneville, TN.

Wake is going to be very lucky to make it to the Garden out of their NIT bracket. VCU is better than they are. In fact, a whole bunch of teams are.

I knew Wake sucked. But, Stetson was last place in the Atlantic Sun last year going 5-15 in conference. That must be some serious suck up there in Winston-Salem.

u n c charlotte. :salute: :salute:

Thanks. Charlotte grad here, now at UT for grad school. As of the year 2000 the UNC Charlotte athletic dept. officially changed their name to Charlotte as to not be confused with UNC Chapel Hill.

The game the other night was brutal. There is no excuse and NINER fans are PISSED. However here was a few things that played out to hurt us (could be of interest due to UT vs. CLT this year):

1. 2 returners are injured and out until Christmas time (perhaps before) with leg injuries. KJ is a soph big man and Dewhurst a senior guard. They're missed, but not key.

2. Big problem: Arguably the best player on the team, BC transfer Shamari Spears was suspended as well as Anjuan Wilderness (Sr) who is a key defender - you may recall a top 10 play by Wilderness against Wake 2 years ago. Both suspended for "violating team policy".

This means we started the game with 6 scholarship players.

3. Our other 2 big men fouled out early - one of which is key player Soph Chris Braswell got 2 fouls within the first 2 minutes - sat most of the 1st half.

4. Finished the game with all guards, 4 scholarship and 1 walk-on (who played prob 10 min total last year) - ran out of gas and had ZERO inside presence. Resorted the jacking up 3's.

5. Don't bash the NC Central transfer - Deuce was the second leading frosh scorer in the NCAA to Seth Curry year before his one year at NCCU. Almost any team would be happy to have him.

Yeah - we miss CUSA badly... but can't do anything about it. Our lack of football at the time (starting in 2013) got us cut out of the BE picture with rivals Cincy and Louisville, among others. Had a NCAA tourney season until midway (19 wins and crashed 7 down the stretch) which lead to Bobby Lutz firing. New coach Alan Major brings promise and has definitely dropped the hammer (had another player suspended last night, lumped in the same thing with Spears and Wilderness). If Major can get this group together we'll be real dangerous. The only loss from that great run last year is PG Dijuan Harris, whom we replaced with the NCCU transfer.

go NINERS go VOLS. Thank goodness I'm at a school now that still hates mempiss like the Niners of CUSA did (and still do).

Anytime 6BC gets beat I, and all other Tiger fans, rejoice in the streets. Their fans are some of the worst on the planet for a school that really has little to show.
