said on Tony Basilio's show today that he doesn't think Kentucky has any real interest in Selby and that WWWes got involved simply to get Tennessee out of the race.

It speaks volumes about how his peers feel about Pearl that a coach will go out of his way to torpedo UT's recruiting, to the point of apparently pushing a player to a collegue who has publicly feuded with said coach.

I suppose if WWW is now working for your program, the proper description is "smooth talk."
This really shouldn't be a surprise. Wasn't Cal known for sometimes "recruiting" local Memphis kids whom he had no intention of signing just to steer them away from UT?
Why waste time with negative recruiting when you can practice predatory recruiting?
Not when he's steering Selby to a guy he would gleefully push in front of a moving train if he could get away with it. If he were pushing Selby to West Virginia, your point would be more palatable.Or you could interpret it that Cal thinks Pearl's a good coach and wants to keep top players away from his conference rival
This has little to nothing to do with shoes. John Calipari has two goals at UK: 1. To add a national title to his resume. 2. To drive Bruce Pearl back to the Horizon League. Not as a direct cause, but do you feel that perhaps there is some under current circulating from things like AAU coaches, Brand names, Nike? I know you've read the rumors out there also about the Nike/addidas debate. Again, I don't think its a huge driving force...
but I can see WWW with his smooth talk using these types of things to perhaps sway a niave kid in leaning one way or the other. Just a thought.

CJC and Pearl are huge rivals. You don't think that having Selby committed to UT earlier this summer scared CJC a little bit? Remember, in NCAA basketball it only takes two or three great recruits to win a NC.
