Gary Patterson to LSU
He is a defensive guy, LSU's goal is to keep Aranda and bring in an offensive coach, or keep Coach O and probably bring in a offensive coordinator. If LSU would have cut the cord on Miles last year, than Patterson would have made more sense.

Although this is very fluid, you are more likely to hear on LSU sooner than later.

There could be two nightmare scenarios that play out for LSU but not many other paths.

They wouldn't keep Aranda at the expense of getting a defensive minded head coach? If they were sold Patterson is their guy.

Hmm. LSU is on their third DC in three years, LSU is back to being a top 10 D, despite the flag football contest in the 2nd half last night. Aranda also did this while switching to the 3-4 and not having the personnel available to play his scheme. The potential hire of Patterson last year could have made sense, not sure it makes sense this year.

There is a scenario where this makes sense, but it would mean a school buying out Aranda's remaining contract. As I mention, there is 1 or 2 issues LSU could have after a HC is announced. Aranda leaving would be very bad for LSU at this stage.

Yeah just tossing it around. I know that's not going to happen but Patterson is a darn good coach
One could do a lot worse

He is. Seriously, he could have been a great hire last year... but Aranda has done really well.

Patterson has turned down a lot of good jobs to stay at TCU. I'm pretty sure he turned down Texas A&M before Sumlin. I think he's just happy where he is.

Patterson has been grooming a very young team this season. He should have a pretty good team next year. I always thought he would end up replacing Bill Snyder at K-State someday but he seems very comfortable in Ft. Worth. His current record is close to Fulmer.
