So, since gas prices have been rising rapidly lately should we blame Obama and his secret ties to Big Oil?

Or instead, should we put blame where it always should go on:

1. An increase in the price of oil
2. Increased demand for Summer driving
3. Change over from winter to summer blends.

For the last 8 years, every Summer bump was blamed on Bush. When gas prices "mysteriously" dropped in the Fall it was considered Republican manipulation for elections. When it drops again this Fall (as it nearly always does), will that be more of Obama's shenanigans?
:)

I bought an Expedition full well knowing this was coming. Bleh. It is irritating.

I just remember the pump stopping while I was filling the Suburban up last year. They had a $100 max. I still have nightmares about it.

It's Bush's fault. He didn't do enough to get us to switch to alternative energies. Duh. Everyone knows this problem materialized in 2001.

Exactly. It wouldn't bother me as much if I thought the Greens weren't causing some of this. Just get out of the way and let people use what they want to use.

The problem is obviously all this domestic oil exploration. we need to make sure that doesn't happen at all. that wont solve any problems.

i do. the same as with W. there will be no recovery as long as gas stays at 3 bucks a gallon. people will just sit at home and not buy anything. i still see no reason for gas to be so high. obama said he would stop the speculators and it has been just another lie.

A Presidential candidate tells you he is going to stop people from speculating on a commodity traded on the open market and it turns out to be a load of crap. I'm sorry, but if you bought that one, it's a you problem.

well lets see. in obamas words he was going to have people watching this activity and stop them from doing it, because it is a national security issue. i believed he used the word regulators, which is a damn good idea. only thing is he lied about the whole thing and is just as corrupt as all the other sorry politicians. i as a american citizen who pay taxes ( why i don't know anymore ) hold people accountable for this. i believe public officials should be impeached for these actions. we have no government anymore as far as i'm concerned. there will be no recovery over the next 4 years unless gas prices go down, i honestly believe the american government is trying to destroy the USA. there is no other answer.

...but how does it not automatically set off your BS detector when a politician starts talking about fixing things by controlling something that he can't hope to have any control over?

The man stated healthcare is a right and STILL won the election. That should have set off everyone's Oh Sh*t detector.

Here is a quote in an article that was back in Jan. on gas prices. The article is no longer available but I saved the quote. It was a Yahoo news article.

Crude has become so cheap, traders who are taking delivery have begun storing it at sea so that it can go to market at a later date.

you can control it through regulators, but he had no real thoughts of doing anything like that. your right it was all a load of crap. that is what politics are about these days, which one lies the best.

that's the key, no need to fix it if you control it.
