Gatlinburg/ A&M game

So we are taking our first family trip to Gatlinburg week before a&m game. I've been countless times as a kid but this will be the first time as a grownup with kids. We have reservations in Knoxville friday night and Saturday night. We are going to the game Saturday. My questions are where should we eat in Knoxville friday night with kids and Saturday before the game. Also I've been thinking about going through townsend on the way to Knoxville friday morning and going to the caverns and eating a late lunch at The Abbey? It looks like that route would double the time so I was just seeing if it would be worth it? Any advice or opinions are welcomed

The Abbey as well as Peaceful Side Social would be good meal spots in Townsend when y'all are making moves to Knoxville.

The area of Knoxville where y'all are staying (Downtown, West Knox, etc) might inform some of the dinner recommendations for Friday evening.

It’s going to be a challenge anywhere in Knoxville the night before a game. That being said, you can hit up several restaurants right there and see who has the shortest wait time, and then check out some cool shops while you wait.
