Before I go into the state of affairs in Gainesville, allow me first to pay proper homage to the UT bball team which is certainly living up to all of the hype. I'm looking forward to our games coming up in early February and early March, though more in the vein of going to a car race to see the wreck than anything else.

Gators are 3-0 right now against a slate of pretty bad teams. Thank God we stayed away from the A-10 as this team gets its sea legs.

But the next 10 days will give us a better idea of what this new roster will bring for Florida this year. We face two undefeated teams in that time in Rutgers and FSU. They've not played anybody, either, and I don't know a whole lot about Rutgers but FSU should be at least a decent team and no worse than a middle of the pack ACC team.

An intriguing time for Gator bball fans. From winning two NCAA tourneys (the second of which we were on the map the whole way) and now we have a whole new group of guys.

Recruiting reports are outstanding, by the way, so don't expect us to be down for too long!

Is the one kid from Rutgers still there? I think his name was Dubie? He was pretty sold I thought.

Well I have said this to you before football season started LG, but I can't take another national championship from a Florida team for another 50 years!!! Okay maybe I didn't say 50, just another year, but lets just go for that. Football is now out :) Now we just need to work on basketball, I don't think that will be a problem this year. :dance2:

On a side note, I would like to see how Florida plays without all of their overly cocky guys, to see how well they will bounce back with losses to the team.

LG, were you a J. Noah fan while he was there? That guy really, really, really, got on my nerves. From his appearance, style of play, comments, attitude....everything. I just really disliked that guy and usually I can pull for individuals on teams that I really dont care to pull for. But that Florida team was lead by that guy which made it impossible. Your thoughts?

I agree with you on him. My point on the cocky florida players that left. I couldn't stand that guy!!

next to him, no one left on that team this year looks cocky. What a tool!

He was cocky as hell, but one heckuva basketball player and the emotional get-up-and-go of a two time national champion team. You might not want to invite him to your house for dinner, but you have to respect his ability.

I would love to have him as a player, on one condition. (He NEVER spoke). His ability and talent are through the ceiling no question. Just wished he'd shut up.

EA sports had him on a list the 50 best college players of all time. That kind of stuff makes me sick.

I actually like Noah a lot. I don't quite get why people hate him so much.

Is it his hair? The fact that he's got French blood? That he cares about winning? That he plays for Florida? That he doesn't respect George W. Bush? That he likes to party?

I have issues with the above text in Bold.

It's hilarious that you have to make a UT reference before you post now....not your fault, just some bitter posters on here as of late.

I think that UF will be middle of the pack. The difference between UF and a similar team in FSU this year is that UF has had the wins and doesn't have the mental block that many middle of the road teams have. FSU may never be any good despite the talent that they have. They seem to always knock off a couple of good teams but they can't put together a season. UF has a chance to get some surprise wins and win the games that they should...the upside is much higher. I hope the gators do well enough for second place :)

So it's really less about what he does on a basketball court and more to do with his style, politics, and choice of school, right?

I really don't think he was ever that amazing. He had great support and was never double teamed. He was flambuoyant on the court and thought he was a good looking guy. He tried to flaunt that in other people's faces and looked very foolish in doing so.

I've said he was a jackass since I saw him 2 years ago getting introduced at TBA and acting like they'd already won.

I think if he'd worn orange and white instead of orange and blue, most people on here would love him.

He wouldn't have been nearly as good or won any NC's. You have no way of knowing that, so that point doesn't matter at all.

I think people would like Steve Spurrier if he coached here.

Ok, so what? They don't like him, and that's that.

Ok, good point - not liking someone is one thing - b/c you don't like his style or politics. But that doesn't make someone a "jackass."

Neither does what team they play for. Terrell Owens is a jackass with Dallas, San Fran, Philly, or anywhere, b/c he acts like a jackass. Same with John Rocker (I'm a Braves fan and always thought he was a jackass).

I see Noah, I think quirky, maybe, or enthusiastic, or outlandish, or uninhibited (which are all traits I find refreshing and entertaining and completely harmless, btw, much like our bball coach), but a jackass, no.

I would. Why not? Pure entertainment, and I bet he'd say it was the best dinner he'd ever had. He has personality without trying to disrespect others, which is something I wish we'd see more of in sports today.
