Local sportswriter about sums it up right. Florida's chances for an undefeated regular season -- a feat accomplished only once in the last 50 years -- hinges on TWO upcoming trips to the State of Tennessee.

Yup.

I think you are both right.

Kentucky did it a few years ago and were the only team in 50 years.

It's possible. The Lady Vols have done it 8 times...

Serioiusly, I want Tennessee to take this away from Florida really bad. I think that they can do it, but Florida can play at an incredible level.

I guess we'll see what happens.

Gators just seem like a cat, playing with mice.

They've got a great shot, obviously. They're also in the position that if they do lose they can (and will) just say it was an off night and that they still should've won.

The crazy thing about it is if Florida loses a conference game, it could be to someone like us, the most unlikely of all (especially at home).

When Carolina went 15-1 in 1997 in the conference, the sole loss was to Georgia. I don't think they were all that great.

............ahhh, forget it. We've won our last game in conference. It'll be 2-14 for Carolina. Thank God it's already baseball season. We are terrible. Since Florida beat us by 40+ in Columbia, they'll probably beat us by 50+ in Gainesville.

I just dont think UF will run the table..they cant continue to get into deep holes like they did against Bama and pull it out..especially on the road.

I keep hearing once in 50 years. Could be wrong, haven't looked it up.

Kentucky did it in 2003 (16-0) and in 1996 (16-0.) Before that, the most recent undefeated team in conference play was Alabama in 1956 (14-0,) although quite a few teams went undefeated in conference play from 1933-1954.

The 96 UK team lost in the SECCG to MSU. I thought we were talking wire to wire including the tourney.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself on the undefeated deal. The Gators are behind Vandy at halftime.

You are correct; I was counting regular season conference games only. By the way, if you include winning the conference tournament in your requirements, the 1956 Bama squad goes into limbo, as there was no tournament held between 1953 and 1978.
