GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Gators got a round of flu shots Sunday, the latest precaution for a team fighting to stave off a major problem.

Running back Jeff Demps, tight end Aaron Hernandez and defensive end Jermaine Cunningham were isolated last week because of flulike symptoms.
Although coach Urban Meyer did not say any of the three had swine flu, he was concerned the virus could ravage his Gators.

"It is a panic level of proportion I've never seen before," Meyer said Sunday, a day after his team's 23-13 victory over Tennessee. "You hear about, I think, Wisconsin had 40 players. Ole Miss had 20 players. My wife, with her great insight, said, 'Do you realize the swine flu and everything is hitting the Florida campus last week.' My gosh."

It would be a crying shame if Timmy caught the H1N1 this week before they come to Lexington to chew on the Cats. ;)

Georgia played it a lot smoother, they announced flu troubles before they played Okla st. If they lost it was an excuse, and if they won it was a tremendous dig down victory...win huge either way.

Bri I dont like this sandwhich game between the UT and LSU game.....it could be setting up quit nicely for the Cats.

Naah. Unless Tebow is running a 104 fever and sweating H1N1 bullets, I can't envision any scenario in which the Cats come within 3 TDs of the Gators. We'll still suit up and give our best shot.

I heard Meyer is also taking a prophylactic antifungal to avoid a yeast infection.

UF has nothing to worry about. I doubt Brooks is coaching to win so the Gators can just coast to the victory.

UT should be handicapped for fielding players with immune systems. It's not fair.

it seems to me that the smart thing to do would have been to give them flu shots before the flu was spreading. hmmmm.

Humorous. Fear of H1N1 is there, so they take shots for regular flu? H1N1 injections haven't been released yet.

The one advantage to working in a hospital is free flu shots. We have had two people off work this week with the flu, one last week, certainly going around.
Has the Vols had to contend with the flu yet?
