"This play comes with a happier context: The Gators had just sealed a win over East Carolina with a fumble recovery, and Alex McCalister saw the end zone ahead of him. But his teammate, Jarrad Davis, realized that was unnecessary: perhaps if McCalister had continued running, he would've tripped and fumbled and ECU would've recovered it and run another play and scored a touchdown."

Yeah but what if him tackling him caused him to fumble? I would have just let him go.

That happened in an NFL preseason game a few years back; guy intrrcepted a ball in the endzone and started to run and his teammate tackled him and he fumbled. The other team recovered and then scored and won.

If I was #14 I'd be ticked. it ain't often defensive players get to house the ball. They certainly don't need the team mom out there enforcing the rules.

I saw that and was thinking wtf? Why in the world did he tackle him? There was nobody near him, he could've trotted in. If I was the guy who had the ball, I think I would've thrown hands at that guy when I got up.

100% sure if that was tennessee they'd fumble it and the other team would run back for TD to win. No doubt.
