i'd have to agree with this women:

“I believe these children are far too young to be learning about what these issues mean,” said Alaina Stewart, who has three children who attend elementary school in Alameda. “These are adult issues and they are being thrust upon the children.”

I've heard kids call other kids ****, but i'm not sure in kindergarden they really understand what they are saying. I wouldn't mind having peopel explain that that kind of language is offensive, but it seems like they are taking it to a different level.

I agree with Mania. We say lots of crappy things to eachother in fun now-a-days that can be offensive to others. **** is kind of like doing something "retarded". Its not proper, its not really the best way to tease eachother, but it happens.

its forcing someones culture down others throats, be open minded but if you dont agree with our perspective then we will force you to

If they are trying to prevent bullying there are better ways. I think the point that sexual orientation is the only protected class receiving this treatment is telling.

Unless I am misreading the article, kindergarteners are NOT being taught about sexuality or gays or lesbians. They are getting an anti-bullying lecture for 45 minutes every year. The fifth graders get the version that includes the sexuality part, and if you don't think that 10 and 11 year olds are saying things like, "That's so gay," or "You are so gay," then you don't know many fifth graders.

If people want to protest the content because it does not criticize homosexuality -- as they wish it would -- then that's fine. But I see once again right wingers are taking the facts, twisting them, and making it seem like 5 year olds are spending 6 months studying how to be tolerant of gay people, and that's just totally inaccurate.

I have no problem with people saying they want the schools to be intolerant of homosexuality. But just be honest that THAT is the motivation, not just protecting little 5 year olds from learning about lesbians.

Typical scare tactic of the right to WAY overclaim what is really happening in order to gin up support for the true agenda.

Again, I have no problem whatsoever with the agenda. I just hate the tactic.
