Great season!!! I saw this team at the Market Square Madness and at that time, I felt they would go .500 in conference play (with Carr). Despite the outcome today, I feel this team overachieved based on the roster and talent in the SEC. They exceeded all expectations and I am extremely proud of what they accomplished this season. It was a fantastic ride and a great season. GO VOLS!!!

Ranked preseason 12, I think. Was No. 1 for a month. A little better than expected, and we will see another national competitive team again next year

Possibly Barnes best coaching job. Brought in a new team, made it work, they were much more consistent and had a great R2 and R3 tourney showing.

Still, it hurts they accomplished... literally nothing. No reg season title. No tourney title. No FF. Well I guess they got to the 30 wins, which was nice.

Meanwhile, Florida comes out of nowhere for a FF, Bama the same last year, and Auburn gets fortunate off Tenn misfortune in getting Pearl and about to make a 2nd FF with him. It gets old that it's never their turn.

You will get blasted in here for your basketball intelligence. Most in here are clueless with their constant expectation. I really think CRB gets the best out his players.

You concerned of a drop off next yr @ BernardKingGoat?

No proven point guard
No shooting guard

Cade, Estrella, Okpara - post. Can any of the three build muscle and develop a post move?

I don’t see Bos running point.

I don’t follow recruiting so love to see your response.

We've done ok since the portal pool has grown exponentially. We signed a couple of good players and I'm certain Barnes will come through in the portal as he has the past couple of seasons. Everyone said this year was going to be a drop off, yet turned out better than expected

Agree! This isn’t an athletic team but find a way to win. It’s impressive.

I was frustrated today as I truly thought we would win - this was the year! So my frustration is coming this close knowing it’s our best opportunity. We won’t have the roster to get back next yr or two, imo. And I wanted it so badly for ZZ, Coach, and Mashack.

Plus, Barnes leaving in 1-3 yrs (who knows) could mean a total rebuild w new coach.

Next year is gonna be a rel challenege for Barnes and that staff with the kind of production that you're loosing after this year. Gotta score big if the transfer portal or there won; t be a Big Dance next year for the program . You gotta get throughbreds to run with throughbreds.

Definitely in a good spot as a program. Back to back Elite 8’s is nothing to sneeze at.

Need a consistent post scoring presence and multiple great perimeter shooters and we could be pretty good again next winter.

Also…need a full roster. No more empty roster spots.

Is point guard a concern?
Would you like to see another post player?

What type of player(s) will we go after in the portal? Shooting guard, defender or rebounder like Mashack?

Yes it does. I know some say it’s an overreaction . . . And perhaps it is . . . But I don’t see a final four for UT. It’s SO DIFFICULT to get in a position to compete for a final 4 spot. Hope I am proven wrong.

Some say we put all our marbles in the game against Kentucky, and just wasn't able to get UP for this game. That makes some sense. That's what I saw on the floor today.

No doubt Houston was very good, but Its a shame we weren't on our game today.

I thought so too. I’m not sure we have any NBA guys in the lineup and we were an off shooting night from making the final four. I loved the scrappy play and toughness of this team. This was one of the most fun teams to watch for us. I never doubted that the guys in the floor were playing for each other, their coach, and the Orange.

Hats off to them for a great season.

This post sounds lifted straight out of the forum on this exact day one year ago. This is the new normal in the transfer portal my friend.

Sorry for being the cynical downer but I'm kind of tired being in the position of underdog, having to "overachieve" to get the success we get. Why can't Barnes recruit enough talent to get to the big dance? That's what I want to know.

Posted this elsewhere already, but it fits here:

I so hate this forum after any loss with all the butthurt idiocy. "We choked", "I'm embarrassed", "Barnes will never win", "excuses", etc., etc., etc.

They came out flat as a pancake against a very good team that was on top of their game, and it snowballed. It happens. You can say it isn't an excuse, but teams coming out flat right off a highly emotional rivalry win is one of the most common things in sports, even at the professional level. These are kids, for crying out loud.

We didn't have a lot of room for error this season given the roster limitations, and the lack of a legit inside scoring presence really came back to bite us on the ass when the perimeter shots weren't falling. Barnes had nowhere to go and just needed to get to halftime, but unfortunately we got in too deep a hole to recover.

That Sweet 16 Kentucky win is how I'll always remember this group. I've been a UT fan for 45 years since coming to school here, and that will always be a Top 10 sports moment, if not higher. Couldn't be more proud of this group, and they have not the slightest thing to apologize for, as they gave us a fantastic four month ride with some electric moments. ZZ, Jahmai, and Jordan are all time VFL's, and I'll always love Chaz, Igor, and D-Stone for what they gave us in one season.

Yep, and I'll just add the buzzer beater vs. Alabama. That win was borderline miraculous.

I’m disappointed with us being so uncompetitive against Houston. The Cougars are good and the better team, but they aren’t THAT much better than the Vols. The way we lost is the thing that’s disappointing.

All that aside, I am grateful for Coach Barnes and this team. Barnes gets a lot out of his players. Back to-back Elite 8 appearances ain’t too shabby.
