So anyway, ditched cable a while back and went with a streaming provider

Think I have made sure to grab all the channels any Vol game could theoretically show up on this fall, but want to verify something.

Is the SEC Network alternate channel now called SEC Network + ? If so, I think I'm golden.

Know we will have a game on the alternate channel this fall-Im guessing our week 2 game so want to make sure I don't get caught with my proverbial pants down.

Which streaming provider? They may or may not carry the alt. But you should be able to get the alt channel on the espn app either way. I get them that way with sling and a roku. They should have an ESPN+ and an SEC+ stream. Just pull up the SEC± one after logging in with your streaming provider info. As long as you have SEC Network in your streaming package, you should be fine.

I'm going to do this soon. Tired of paying $245 for internet an TV. Have a guy going to rig up an antenna for me for local TV. I'll get the sports package on stream when football gets here.

That's what I did. My father-in-law came over and helped hook us up. We bought a $69 digital antennae from wally world (and essentially your expense part is done) no monthly bill. Everything else is streamed. We pay 50 bucks a month for T-mobile high-speed unlimited internet. Only other costs from there is streaming services you subscribe to/or share with friends/family members.

Plus is the SEC Network streaming, not Alt.

I have both SECNW channels and never saw one game of any sport being shown on the Alt channel last season. It does seem to be a wasted channel space.

At least in the pre-2024 agreements, each team is supposed to have 1 game per season on the alternate channel.

Last year, I can't remember if it was Akron or MTSU

In 21, I think it it was our game vs TTU

Basically the only time the alternate channel even seemed to be used was between like 1-8 pm on 12 Saturdays in the fall. I don't recall there being any night games on there.

I would assume that the 24 and post 24 agreements on that will be the same in terms of each team playing one game on there per year vs a "lesser" opponent

I wish somebody could explain the best way to cut the cord to a simpleton like me.

Start with existing internet fiber. Then do what to get all the games? YouTube subscription? Roku? FireStick? Internet ready TV’s and/or digital channel antennas? ESPN and SEC Network subscriptions? CBS Sports Net streaming?

I can see all the UT football and basketball games with the following:

AT&T fiber Internet - $100
Hulu Live TV which includes ESPN+ - about $75

got cable once. that lasted 6 months. then got a job for cable company. i live about 250 yards from a pull box, in a competing cable company area. we could get all channels free, instead i have to use their streaming app which is terrible.

Yep, SEC+ is streaming. It also "limits brand exposure." Someone should count the times other schools
are forced to take that for their games and see how it shakes out at season's end.

All anyone needs is internet - every Vols game was on Youtube ( Im not saying Youtube TV either ) just internet --- type in tennessee vs whoever they are playing and its there - only drawback is it is a couplle minutes behind Live Cable

Thanks. Here’s an article comparing content availability on Hulu Plus Live TV versus YouTube TV.

YouTube TV vs. Hulu Plus Live TV: The Top Streaming Services Compared

I still need to sort out all of the hardware options and requirements.
If you want to stream to your TV, then you can use almost any streaming device (or smart TV), you just need to make sure that the app. that you want is available. We’ve used both Rokus and Fire Sticks. They’re both good. There is no monthly fee for either device. I’d say that we prefer Fire Sticks. They’re a bit more portable if you want to take one to a hotel, etc.

Once you have a device to stream on, then you just subscribe to whichever service you want that has all of the channels that you want. YouTube TV is very nice, but I’ve heard good things about Hulu Live. Sling is also an option. There are others as well. You pay for these services monthly and access them using an app. on whichever smart device you have. Hopefully this helps some!
