I say it wouldn't hurt to take a chance on him. He was athletic enough to compete with Calvin Johnson, plus, he probably has a firmer appreciation of freedom and is anxious to prove his doubters wrong.

The trouble he got in was a bunch of BS. By all accounts he's a good kid. He got... how to put this delicately for the family board?... a BJ from a 15 year old girl when he was 17. The age of consent if Georgia is 16. He was a senior and she was a sophomore. Since he was over the age on consent and she was under (even though the sex was consentual), he was convicted of rape and sent to jail for 10 years, and had to register as a sex offender. One year after he was convicted, a law was passed in GA to make cases such as that punishable by only a yera in jail (with no sex offender registry). Even the year in jail is screwed up, but that's another discussion entirely. The only problem with the new law was that the state legislature didn't make the law retroactive, so he had to stay in jail until his lawyers won his right to get out. The kid was a great athlete, an honor student, and he was being recruited by some Ivy League schools (according to 680 AM in Atlanta). So he got 2 years in jail for having consentual sex with someone 2 years younger than him? Outrageous.

Exactly, he received oral sex from a girl 2 years younger and the key word is received. He didn't force or violate anyone. He has done no more than anyone else on this board. He's not a bad kid. Hell me and my girlfriend had sex in high school. I was a senior and she was sophomore, so I guess in Georgia they would have gave me the chair. The South is so damn behind time it is pathetic.

I don't know if he wants ot play ball or not. As with most recruiting, I think the beginning of this thread was speculation.

Genarlow Wilson was never a big recruit. From what I recall, he wasn't even regarded as I-A prospect, and I'm sure three years in the slammer hasn't upped his stock. Nice to see this injustice finally corrected, but he's not going to be playing on TV anywhere, not that he's worried about that.

And probably more likely to toe the line.

Alot of kids nowadays seem to think "trouble can't happen to me," but Wilson knows that it damn sure can, even if you didn't really do anything wrong.

The same night, he and his boys videotaped themselves running a train on an extremely drunk 17-year old. I doubt many people on this board have engaged in that activity. He was charged with the BJ crime in connection with a rape charge by the 17-year old girl. I don't agree with the DA's actions in this case, but let's not pretend Genarlow's a saint.
