"No foul play suspected"? Know he was 95 and had previous medical issues, but his wife and dog, too....together? It will be interesting to see where this one goes especially as the day unfolds.

Yeah, I agree, it seems strange. The wife was considerably younger, I believe.

Carbon monoxide was my first thought. Still odd that their home wouldn't have sufficient alarms for that tho. Those things are crazy sensitive these days. Even some aerosols can set them off.
Radon, maybe???

Not sure Radon can kill you in your sleep, can it?
I don't know. I pulled that from the deep recess of my brain.

Wasn't there commercials on the radio about 20 years ago about radon gas? That's the extent of my knowledge.

It's dangerous. They say it can cause lung cancer.

Hackman doesn't strike me as someone who would suicide. And I have an even harder time believing he takes his wife and dog in a suicide pact.

A couple of tidbits about Gene Hackman's career I ran across this morning ....

He did a screen test for the role of Mike Brady on "The Brady Bunch" but was (fortunately for him) passed over for Robert Reed.

He only accepted the role of Lex Luthor on Superman on the condition that he could keep his hair. He takes off a whig near the end of the movie to reveal what appears to be a bald head, but he is obviously wearing a 'bald' cap.

He was good friends with Jack Nicholson in real life. They were both in Reds in 1981. Nicholson turned down the role of Norman Dale in Hoosiers, but encouraged the producers to cast Gene instead. They took Jack's advice.

One of the all-time greats. I thought he carried the first two Superman movies by bringing humor to the role of Lex Luthor. Hackman had great range.

Rest In Peace.

Both bodies were found decomposed and partially-mummified. Possibly dead for two weeks.

Hackman's cane and sunglasses were found near his body.

Two other dogs found alive.

That’s some really good stuff. I was in Memphis staying at the Peabody Hotel when Hackman and Cruise were filming The Firm years ago. Both were seen there at the hotel by a couple of my friends, although I didn’t run into them myself. It was a great movie.
