Seeing stuff like this really irks me because Bama fans act like Saban runs a tight ship and is the ultimate disciplinarian.

My roomate in college was from alabama and I used to hear things like "yeah Sabans players know better than to do stupid stuff like that. Saban will 'sit their a** on the bench, run them, teach them a lesson,' etc"

He got a 2nd DUI. Someone with more knowledge of the law should confirm this, but dont you normally have a mandatory jail time with your 2nd?

2nd DUI means nothing anymore. I run a wrecker service and got a guys car while he was arrested for DUI #4 but it got knocked back to a first offence. Money can get u out of anything

Depends on the state. Some are harsher than others. I believe TN to be on the more severe side with 45 days mandatory in jail if convicted of DUI 2nd.

There can be many reasons why it could reduced to a lesser included. There are legal issues to look at with DUI cases.

He won't miss a single game, you can take that to the bank. And if he goes out on a bender and kills a UAT Grad student in a head on collision... just the price of winning championships.

bammer fans actually tried to sell the fit as a act that players didn't get into trouble because they were afraid of nick saban.. LOL. yeah then they had 4 players get a gun and beat up and rob students on campus. they have always had issues at alabama. they look to win a second fulmer cup this year.

nick saban is no tougher on discipline than any other coach in fact we see he is more lax. geno smith wouldn't be on many teams or in many schools right now with 2 DUIs. i know at UGA he wouldn't be. there isn't a school or program that doesn't have kids arrested (including tennessee and UGA), but there are many places where a kid is booted quick or actually punished with missed playing time however that isn't the case at Alabama. Also very few schools would take a kid who was still dealing with multiple felonies due to domestic violence. That says it all about nick saban and alabama.

UGA may recruit thugs, but at least Richt disciplines them. Saban is more concerned about winning championships at all cost.

David "The Deuce" Palmer got 2 DUI's in 3 months back in '92 and he didn't miss any playing time in route to the National Championship. I see no reason for us to be any harder on Geno Smith.

I remember a time when a DWI was a $10 dollar fine. And if you don't know, times do change. Driving under the influence is taken very seriously in parts of the country that have some moral grounding. But you wouldn't understand that now, would you?

As I said, Bama and Saban care more about winning than doing what's right.

Not sticking up for Saban, but had this guy been kicked off the team , he would just be welcomed by another school -- and how can that be stopped ?
