That should eliminate any possibility of another deep run in the tournament for them anytime soon.

Pretty good hire for that school. Hewitt isn't that good of a coach, but he should be able to recruit well enough to beat teams in that conference.

AHHHH, Sorry that conference includes ODU & VCU. Blaine Taylor & Shaka Smart are better than Hewitt.

Agreed. But that conference will usually get at least 2 bids every year and sometimes more, and I think Hewitt will be able to recruit players that will have them in contention. And don't crown Shaka yet. That crap you saw in the tournament was what VCU did all year, but those contested 3s finally went down. He may end up being a good coach, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.

They'll be very good this year because of the remaining personnel. Then the fact that Hewitt is at best the 6th best coach in that league will doom them to mediocrity. People underestimate how good the coaches in that league are.

and VCU and ODU are both losing A LOT this year. Both schools should rebound nicely, especially ODU imo (I say that because VCU is losing so much, not because of any personal biases), so next year the Hewitt hire will look all nice, shiny and right, but then it will implode. Hewitt's best hope is to ride the coattails of what he's left with and sucker some other big name school into hiring him. Of course with his GT paychecks rolling in, maybe it doesn't matter.
