Not only that but I thought Abe Lincoln was the one who did Turkey Day... Just looked it up and 1863 was when it was official.

Shush. Or should I say Fhufh?

He is trying to make the point that we should return to the ideals of the time Washington. You know. Scurvy. Leeches. Hangings. Plague. Twenty percent literacy. Slavery. Infant mortality. Duels. Pooping in the woods. No electricity. Worrying about bears and Indians.

You know. The good old days.

They're not typos. I assume it was typed out the way whoever recorded it wrote it out.

Pure... unadulterated.... idiocy.

The ideals proclaimed by GW in the OP did not cause the things you cited nor are the truths espoused in anyway diminished by those things. Your post is comparable to saying MLK's Dream speech had a direct cause/effect relationship with the spread of Herpes or concurrent violence in the Middle East.

The left would want Washington impeached for so flagrantly comingling politics and religion.

do you even know anything about our founding father? I would imagine your history knowledge goes back only to the 60's.

Feel free to challenge my historical knowledge. I just don't see why what was good and appropriate 250 years ago is still perfectly good and appropriate now. Things change.

I'll certainly agree that things change, but the guy was right on about political parties, IMO. Not a bad opinion on involvement in foreign affairs, either.

Weapons technology and global trade is such that foreign affairs are unavoidable to some extent.

Seriously? Most idiotic post of the week.

Hold on now, let's not be hasty, the week is far from over and LG can be very creative when making idiotic comments, besides he has won that award 12 weeks in a row and who knows, some other idiot may beat him out by the end of the week, it's not like he has no competition at all.
