I just saw another Georgia offensive lineman take a USC defensive tackle out with a block to the lower legs,(feet). These chop blocks to the lower back of legs should be treated the same as targeting. I am not very fond of Georgia football.

I know they changed rule not too long ago about "chop blocking" saying that if player is "engaged" they can not chop block, but I agree, I think you should not be allowed to block below waist period.

Someone is teaching it there, maybe they will get wiped out on a sideline play and learn how it feels!

Cut blocking, which is what OP described, is different than chop blocking which was what the second poster described. To my knowledge, chop blocking is illegal, whereas cut blocking is legal. It's just really dirty and dangerous. Cut blocking becomes illegal when it happens from the side or behind, which is clipping. This is how I've always understood it so if I'm wrong, someone correct me.

Cut blocking is still legal in CFB, but the player must be within his zone, which is supposed to be a few feet to rither side of hus position along the LOS. The UGA player that cut blocked Shy had moved outsidebhis zone.

Point being, I would like to see them get rid of all blocks below waist.

I could get behind this if it was limited to linemen. They outweigh everyone else by so much and are engaged in blocking on every single play, so there's much higher probability that someone may get seriously injured by a lineman cut blocking (a la Georgia Tech) than someone else who blocks like that on another play, say, Kamara going low at someone's legs face to face when the defender has a chance to avoid the block or at least minimize its impact on his body.

That was one massive run-on sentence.

What Kublanow did was clipping, IMO. Low down, dirty, cheap, and dangerous (obviously). Should've been called.
