Georgia vs. Tennessee
Georgia resumes its regular-season schedule with a Saturday afternoon contest against Tennessee at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs haven't played since last Saturday, when they won a 74-73 decision at Vanderbilt. It improved their overall record to 14-8, 4-5 in SEC play, and moved them past the Commodores into fourth place in the Eastern Division standings.
The win was also Georgia's third true road victory of the season. The first two years of the Dennis Felton era yielded just one road win, coming at Kentucky in 2004.
Tennessee represents the first of the five "return" games for Georgia against SEC East brethren. These two teams met for the first time this season Jan. 11 in Knoxville, a game won by the Volunteers, 89-76.
In order for the Bulldogs to sustain their candidacy for a post-season bid of any kind, they desperately need to start posting so-called "quality wins." Georgia has just one win against a team (Western Ky.) with an RPI currently higher than its own. And of the seven games left in the regular season, just three such opportunities remain: vs. Tennessee, at Kentucky and at Florida.
In addition, the Dogs are also 0-2 in their only games against the Top 25 (Nevada, Florida).
