What has Kirby shown you thus far that makes you think he's a better coach than Richt? Better recruiter, yes, that is clear, but 2016-18 Kirby looks quite similar in terms of on the field results to 2001-03 Richt, even down to some of the specific losses and where their final ranking was. Richt in all likelihood would have been in a CFP in his second year had one existed (Georgia was #4 in the BCS after winning the SECCG), just like Kirby.Muschamp’s best team at UF lost to Mark Richt’s best team at UGA.
I’m of the opinion that Smart is a better coach than Richt, and it’s been proven that Smart is a better recruiter than Richt...and Richt was a very good recruiter.
This is different.
I'll admit that Kirby's teams seem to have more of a ruthlessness or "killer instinct" about them that Richt's never seemed to have, but that's just a feeling or vibe more than anything given they have totally different personalities. It certainly hasn't been borne out on the field...yet.
