ATLANTA -- Georgia fullback Des Williams will miss the upcoming season after rupturing his right chest muscle while lifting weights this week.

Williams, the Bulldogs' projected starter, will have surgery and faces a six-month recovery period, the school said Thursday.

Georgia will request a medical redshirt season for Williams, which would leave him with two years of eligibility.

The 6-foot-1, 260-pound junior played in 12 games with two starts in 2004. He had five receptions for 43 yards and 13 carries for 29 yards.

Bummer for Georgia's running game. They're gonna have to rely on it for their offensive production. Although they should be alright. They have a great o-line.
