Dayton's Brian Gregory has reached an agreement in principle to become the next men's basketball coach at Georgia Tech, a source told CBSSports.com on Monday.

An official announcement is expected soon.

A source said Gregory told his team at a meeting early Monday.

Gregory spent eight seasons at Dayton and took the Flyers to two NCAA tournaments, but he only finished higher than seventh in the Atlantic 10 once in the past six seasons. The former Michigan State assistant is replacing Paul Hewitt at Georgia Tech. The ACC school fired Hewitt earlier this month after five NCAA tournaments 11 seasons.

Aside from finishing 1st and 2nd in the A10 his first two seasons, he isn't that great on paper. 11th, 7th, 7th, 2nd, 7th and 8th.

Makes our hire look a lot better. NC State fans want zona's coach. They are delusional.

I think that Coach Martin has more potential upside at UT than Gregory does at Ga Tech.
Hiring Gregory at UT could have caused a run on the mattress establishments in Knoxville.

Heard at noon, that Sean Miller told NC State no. So they are down to Smart or Marshall per a NC State site similar to Volquest (can't remember the name).

The only thing that GT is missing now is Mike Hamilton as AD. What an unbelievably bad hire!
