Just getting my thoughts out because I’m a little anxious. All year I have felt confident in winning this game, but now I have doubts because Nico is banged up. He hasn’t been great this year, but I had his improvement projected toward getting us a dub in Athens. His performance has given me validation in recent weeks, but the possibility of a concussion gives me pause.

That said, I have to remind myself that this season has been a success in the growth of our program. We finally have a defense we can depend on. That will not change in the foreseeable future. We finally have a championship-caliber QB and a physical run game. And we have big play threats at wideout. Regardless of the outcome, I’m pleased by the ENTIRE coaching staff and AD. They are doing a GREAT job.

But make no mistakes, this game is huge. Our guys have an opportunity to solidify their place as the new kings of the SEC. Bama had their run. Georgia had their run. Now it’s our turn. The crown is there for Tennessee to take. Our coaches, our team, and our supporters have endured years and years of disappointment, but they’ve continued pressing forward. This program is built the right way. They deserve the joy of reaching their goals and they deserve respect from the rest of the conference. Being 9.5 point underdogs proves that the respect isn’t there yet. Now is the time to earn it.

I want this for them so bad! Besides getting the Bama monkey off our back in 2022, I’ve never wanted to see the Vols win one game more than this one. Have you?

I want this win bad as well. I feel really confident about the defense and their ability to make this a competitive game but I’m not sure what our offense will look like with the injuries that happened Saturday. I don’t have much confidence in our O-line to hold up against that D-line so whoever is in at QB will have to roll out a ton and scramble. Gaston looked good the other night but it was Miss State and I don’t think he’s very mobile.

And I don't think Nico needs to be taking on defenders. Take what they give you and get down.
Not sure what that skinny guy is trying to prove

I don’t think he does either but no harm in rolling out and getting rid of the ball quickly. Maybe the O-line steps up big this week.

Agreed, but we've seen him taking on defenders unnecessarily on more than one occasion. He ain't built for that.

I think our best chance to beat Georgia is in a low scoring, defensive slug fest where we have a few more points than they do. I don't see the offense exploding on Georgia. I think we could be fine with either Moore or Nico from that account. My concern is playing a Nico that isn't 100%. Nico at 100% is our best option but an injured Nico won't do us any favors.

So basically the style we have been playing since the OU game. A dark alley brawl. I expect this to look alot like the Arkansas game but I think we capitalize on 2-3 plays this time around.

Agree, I just don't see us blowing up offensively on them and I also don't see them doing well against our defense. We force an ugly game and who knows what happens. It could come down to turnovers, officiating/penalties, kicking game, etc.

I don't see Hype changing his O philosophy for this game of run, run and run some more and mix in a few passes. As long as our D can keep GA's offense under control this may work but until I see us beat GA I will be on BVS for now.

Nico being banged up is a concern. However, I saw improvement in the offense. Nico hit 2 deep shots for touchdowns. Gaston would have likely hit 1-2 more if not for DPI so I think he would be serviceable. We could have easily scored 40 but rightly chose to take a knee. Yes, it was MSU, but the offense showed more signs of life in my opinion. Vols win a close one in Athens.

Georgia has been bad on offense all year. If this is the team we give up 20 to, it’s because we got lazy.

It's got all the ingredients u need to make a straight up fist fight. We're definitely not going to light it up but I don't think we have to. This is one of those 3 & out with a punt aint a bad thing games. There will be 4-5 times where they are completely confused on the backend because of youth. We have to hit a minimum of 3 of those 5 to pull this off. We can't fumble and we can't drop passes in a game like this. Nico has to draw from that OU experience for this game. Just don't beat yourself.

Ride the defense and Sampson to a win in Athens…Nico though is going to have to hit a couple big plays in order to give Sampson the room to run
Before we can ride the defense, we have to fix the A/B gap issue we had in the Mississippi State game.

Both teams have, for the most part, been 2nd half teams. First half could be a chess match to feel out what the opponent is bringing, then both teams should turn it up after halftime.

If it is a defensive battle, I think that favors the good guys in orange and white. Some quality stops (and turnovers) could help quiet the canine adherents. However ugly, by 1 point or 100, just win.
