Abdul-Salaam said she also has been stymied in efforts to designate Mrs. King's birthday as a state holiday.
"I'm saddened," she said.

No need to be sad. I'll hang her picture in my office if I get the day off!

Well procedure is to only post pictures of governors and members of the legislature. Not sure why anyone else should get anything else. She was already placed there for viewing which is beyond normal procedures. Does this mean that everyone with the last name of King gets a picture up?

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will want their photos there since they knew MLK Jr and have made a career out of that. Jesse Jackson thanks God everyday he was on that Balcony.

Imus has competition from the Brits :eek:hmy:

That's astonishing frankness on the part of the prime minister of the UK, even if he is already planning to leave office within the next six months. Wow. It will be interesting to see what kind of a firestorm that sets off over there.

Since he's being pounded for doing absolutely nothing for the British sailors and marines, chalk this up to either foot in mouth disease or an attempt to try to show he really does have a pair.

Is that really anything different than is going on in New Orleans with the crime, and having to bring in the National Guard, since Hurricane Katrina..

The crime in New Orleans is really not that bad in most areas.

Amazing to me how everyone I know that comes down here is shell-shocked and tell me "This city is nothing like I thought"

I really have nothing else to go on other then I live in Uptown New Orleans, work near the French Quarter/Downtown, and have family right outside in Old Metairie. To me, the city Post-Katrina is better than Pre-Katrina.
