Sometimes when I click on some of the thread titles here, I am redirected to some strange search engine site. Just seems to happen at random. Anyone else having this happen to them? I wonder if it could be a problem with Volnation.

If it happens again, I will try to copy the site name and whatever info I can get from it.

And did I mention that I don't like being redirected?

I know for sure it has happened at VN, more than once. If it happens again, I will try to copy the page and post it here and that may provide some answers.

This is one page I was redirected to when I clicked on the help forum. So much for the porn theory. If this is just happening to me, could be a problem on my side.

Two of the vintage malware types that make a living redirecting your browser (typically search results) are Sefnit and Fosniw.

Sefnit:
Trojan.Sefnit | Symantec

Fosniw:

But, like I said page redirects are typically exploited in search results. The odds are that there is a bad ad in rotation loading on VN. If you use a capable browser, by capable I mean a browser that makes an effort to remain secure (i.e. not IE). Both Chrome and Firefox have some very useful plugins in blocking ads and tracking cookies/js.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I use Windows 7 and Firefox.

The redirect is not when I'm searching for anything, they come when I click on a thread at VN. Sometimes clicking on the thread takes me to a page like the one posted above. Just wondering if it happens to anyone else.

I was sent to these 3 sites when I clicked on the ATV thread in the Pub a few minutes ago.

As you can see, the first one is Vol related. Now I'm not so sure that this is a problem on my side.

During this process, there is a page between VN and these images posted above, but it doesn't stay up long enough to get a good look at it. Is there any way to check the advertisers at VN and see if any of them are connected with any of these ads?

And while we're at it, does anyone else get the little slide up ad on the lower right corner?
